Plant halos
These plant halos from Two Wests are a great way to support your growing tomatoes. Planting in the increased depth improves the root development and watering is a controlled breeze.I would certainly recommend these plant halos.

New Try
Bought these to see if it will prevent the tomato blite I had last year. They are bigger than I though but very sturdy, they fit perfectly in the pots I have. As I've only just planted the tomatoes in them it's hard to say how well they will work. A word of caution, they sit proud about my plant pots so care has to be taken when moving the pots to hold the plant pot and not the halos. Very pleased with them so far.

Always a game changer for tomato growing
A worthwhile investment for anyone who grows their tomato plants in grow bags. Having invested in them myself I have now got some for daughter and she loves the low maintenance watering. She finds that if you keep an inch of water in trough they don’t get to her tomato plants. Personally I top the inner bit off with crushed egg shells to be certain. At end of season just wash them off and let them dry before storing away clean for next year. My only other tips would be to hold growbag on each side and whack it to break up the compose inside it before cutting circles out for the 3 halos per growbag and use the halo to press down and mark out where to cut outside of halos drainage holes.

Durable and useful
Have used these for several years now and find them invaluable in conjunction with gro-bags for keeping my tomatoes going through a long season. Some of the drainage holes sometimes log up, but enough water seems to get to the plants for this not to be problematic

Useful kit; best price I could find.
Excellent; has made a world of difference to my tomato plants, planted in grow-bags.. Helps avoid problems with uneven watering, and in the greenhouse, drying out on some of the very hot days we've had. Also the extra depth to plant into (in the "neck" of the halo) gives the plant a lot more support as it's roots go down to the moister compost, rather than just spreading out sideways. I have a good crop of healthy plants. They're easy to water and feed. They are easy to put supporting canes in, too, which makes a lot of difference. The halos will go on for years - I'm using some older ones (which don't have cane supports) stuck into the top of some cheap (55 pence!) buckets and growing chard in them. The reservoir of water in the halo helps provides a slug barrier too...

Patchy results
I bought these chiefly to support the cane tripods for the outdoor tomatoes I was growing this year. It was quite difficult to fill up the soil in the centre of the ring without dropping any in the outer ring. Half of them worked well in that the plants in them did just as well as those stuck directly in pots without a ring. The others were a disaster. The water trough wouldn't empty, despite sticking a skewer through the holes, and in one that seemed ok, the leaves started to curl and all the tomatoes had blossom end rot. I had to destroy that plant, and for the others I just watered the centre. Perhaps the problems were entirely owing to my clumsiness, but I wouldn't recommend these and won't re-use them next year.
