I want them for my new long board.** A: Hi, Thank you for your interest with Bones Reds. ABEC ratings are not relevant in any skating application. Allow me to explain. ABEC is a scale for tolerances. The higher the ABEC number, the more precise the bearing is. At the onset, this sounds relevant. However, ABEC ratings are most useful when comparing bearings in a low load and very high RPM (revolutions per minute) environment. Skateboarding, scooters, and roller skates are high load, low RPM. Because of this and the exposure to dirt, water, etc makes ABEC ratings lose their relevance as soon as your wheels hit the ground. Frankly, skate companies have used ABEC scales just to create price tiers of products. While the bearing quality might be better at a higher ABEC rating, it is wrong to assume a higher ABEC rating means a better bearing. It is much more important to look at the brand reputation, the type of lubricant used, and the bearing shield style. These features will make a huge difference. The difference is worth it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Quality Affordable Bearings *by X***U on March 1, 2025* I ordered 16 in total for a pair of inline skates. Just received the bearings and installed them. All of them seem spinning freely, and there is no play. Cannot comment on the longevity and performance yet, but want to point out that these bearings are not sealed or permanently lubricated. What's covering the steel balls is just a dust cover. They came oiled, but it doesn't hurt to add a drop of light machine oil during installation. These are all consistent with the current product description (as 2/28/2025). 1. "Single, non-contact, removable rubber shield for easy cleaning and less friction" 2. "Pre-lubricated with Speed Cream racing lubricant" This also means that 1. they're not compatible with water or mud. if the skates rolled over puddle or mud, be prepared to clean and lubricate the bearings afterwards. 2. They may need a drop of oil before/during/after season. As long as your bearings are not covered in dust/dirt, to lubricate your bearings, you can just add a drop of oil to the center of each bearing and spin it. The oil will sip through the gap between the dust cover and inner ring. The bad experience from some reviewers may be related to these. BTW, please read the manual coming with the bearings. It has a lot more information that I expect.
