How loud do these go to? I usually have found that other Bose headphones have had limitations volume wise, compared to say bowers and Wilkins headphon

Very very loud, way more than I could ever use, if you use the loudest then you will definitely lose audition very quick as the bass will be like having constant explosions in your head.

Anybody else having issues with the left earbud constantly disconnecting?

The left earbud disconnects temporarily when a new person with an iPhone comes close to me. It only takes a second or two before the earbuds realise it's someone else's iPhone and the sound comes back. It doesn't bother me at all. It's only noticable at places like major railway stations during rush hour.

Can volume (balance) and/or tone be adjusted independently between left & right earphones?

No, when the volume is adjusted it is for the same level in both earphones.

I experienced this with my first and second set of these headphones when paired with my pixel 3 (I did not try with seperate device). Customer support was not effective and I eventually returned these.
