Kiss My Boots (2) (The Coming Home Series)

This is one of my all time favorite second chance romances. It was such a wonderful story that was low on angst and full of love and strength. One of my top books of 2017 and a future re-read favorite. This one was a total 5 star read for me. It had strong characters, beautiful storyline, full of swoon worthy moments and a whole lot of emotion. I loved every word and could not put it down once I started reading. I absolutely loved Quinn and Tate's story. They were torn apart by forces beyond their control, but once they were reunited and the air was cleared it was like there was no time that had passed. The power of their feelings for each other was the real star of this story. It was so beautifully written and had some levity and hell raiser thrown in for good measure. I highly recommend this book to anyone that loves a true romance novel. No push alpha males here only strong bonds and loving relationships. And you will want to meet Quinn Davis and swoon over Tate Montgomery.

I’ve loved Harper Sloan’s writing since I picked up her first release, Axel, and her Corps Security series is one of my favorites. I’ve read almost everything she’s written, and I love her special brand of alpha males. This series is a departure from her usual, so I was excited to see what she’d do with cowboys. I’m happy to say that she did it well, and while I haven’t yet read Lost Rider, the first book in the Coming Home series, I’ll be rectifying that soon. This book is a standalone, and although I may have gotten a bit more backstory development, I wasn’t at all hindered nor did I feel as though I was missing something by not having read the first book. Set in Pine Oak, Texas, Kiss My Boots was a sweet and sexy second-chance, small-town romance between Quinn Davis and Tate Montgomery, childhood friends and then first loves separated by circumstances not of their making or choosing. Reunited nine years later, Tate is determined to win her back, but Quinn has demons from her upbringing that don’t make it easy for her to trust, and his sudden departure is a big hurdle for her to clear. “…it could end in disaster, Leigh.” “Or…it could end in pure magic.” “It could be my destruction,” I debate. “Or it could be your salvation.” The chemistry between Quinn, the town’s mechanic, and Tate, an OB-GYN returning to fulfill his small-town doctor dream, burns just as brightly as it did nine years earlier when they were teens in throes of young love. Tate patiently took the time to explain why he left the way he did to Quinn, and his reasons were valid, believable and, dare I say, even noble. Forgiveness and then reconciliation were quick, but I didn’t mind that. After everything they’d been through, I actually wanted that part to be easy. So, while there wasn’t a lot of relationship angst in this book, there was some while Quinn dealt with her upbringing and the demons she was battling from it, as well as some from the last remnants of Tate’s life during the nine years they were separated. As with all great southern, small-town romances, you’ll also find a good dose of down-home drama here. There was also plenty of in-your-business humor to be had, and the side characters in this book served to make a really good story even better. While Kiss My Boots is a very different book than what long-time readers of Harper Sloan have seen from her in the past, it’s okay, change is good, and she’s crafted a very sweet, sexy, easy-to-read story here. Sloan has created a comfortable, relatable world in Pine Oaks through her vivid descriptions and interesting supporting characters, and I’m looking forward to a return trip there. Harper flipping Sloan! what have you done to me? I had been in a reading slump, life taking over! and I could not concentrate. I did get it back I had two arcs to finish! then I grabbed Kiss my Boots! A funny, crazy, happy, sad, frustrating story with a badass crazy lead in Quinn and the hot as hell, sexy Doc Tate. This had me finishing a book within 24 hours, and there was a sleep in there! but I've not done that in a month or so! Just love the Davis Trio - Clay, Maverick and Quinn and I know that its fiction but everything kinda feels so real. I love that we get to continue to spend time with Maverick ad Leighton their wedding was honest to goodness really lovely. We knew Quinn was a fire cracker from her shenanigans with Leighton but she is a girl you'd love to have as your friend, always in your corner. She had an integrity and loyalty bar none and will have your back, she is a forgiving person and she does not let her past mar her future or let it get in the way of the present. She tackles life head on even if she really wants to hide her head in the sand. And we had no inclination that she was harboring such a painful heartache. We first meet/learn of Tate, during a phone conversation and you can feel the tension that is so thick, it is going to take the sharpest knife to get through it. We learn all about the boy who had Quinn's heart and we get to know them man he has become. They made a great couple, and once they worked through the hurt they really had something special. Q's brothers were so over protective, but even they understood the magnetic pull Quinn and Tate had, as kids they were inseparable and as individuals they were both very strong and successful people, although both like ships without a rudder but as adults together they are formidable, even stronger than before. Quinn was very insightful she had a wisdom older than her years. I loved how she dealt with the visit to her mother, Quinn was very vulnerable but had an absolute amazing strength. I loved how connected Quinn and Tate were they gave each other enormous strength. When Tate's crazy ex reappeared I think I was expecting a whole different storyline thank goodness my imagination was wrong! :) Quinn rocked the situation , she had it all under control no one was getting near her man! This book had me in a complete myriad of emotions, I was laughing with the girls, cheering their antics on, I was feeling the love and strength from her brothers and from Tate and also the respect from Clay and Maverick towards Tate. I was in awe of Quinn's attitude, her strength, her happiness and her love for her family and lover. Anther un-put-down-able book, a great page turner with love, frustration, strength, fun, happiness, serious moments and some laugh out loud funny moments. 5 kiss my freaking boots stars!

Kiss My Boots by Harper Sloan Not joke from a lie, I am speechless with this story. I was hesitant with this one, only because the first book I liked but didn’t LOVE. But here laddies and gents, book lover all around the world… THIS book called KISS MY BOOTS is everything I love. As always Harpers writing is perfect, flawless and all so romantic. “Your life will always overcorrect your steps for you until you’re finally on the right one” Kiss My Boots is 100 percent standalone, it is a second chance romance and you will laugh, swoon and be pleasantly surprised at how quick you will eat this book up. Yes, we are back in her Oak Pine world, Texas. Tate and Quinn, 9 years they have been apart and not because they wanted to be apart but because when you are young and so in love and have nothing but fears and adults standing in your way, your miss-leaded to do the “right” thing… in this case what Tate did was so swoon worthy I forgave him as soon as he explained to us why he sacrificed 9 years away from Quinn. Quinn, is so perfect. Sassy, quick to the punch and a kick ass mechanic… yes, a lady mechanic… so hot! Tate is a lady doctor, and the one liner’s in this are so funny you will be wiping away tears from laughing so hard, and because their romance is of the charts so sexy and sweet. The passion they have for each other ignites our pages. “He’s a doctor. Trained to see patients in a clinical manner. He doesn’t show up at the office and spend the whole day coming over himself because there’s some lady pockets in his face. It’s a doctor’s office, not an orgy by appointment.” The cover on this one, is life. I love staring at my copy on my bookshelves. Jesus Jones, you must pick this book up! I can’t fault anything, everything was perfect I am so excited for the next one, even though while writing this book I have already finished it but just to be able to remember everything you loved about it while writing a review.

I loved bother the Corps Security and Hope Town series from Harper. I didn't love Lost Rider and I think I figured it out in Kiss My Boots. I just don't feel the same connection with these characters. Still a good book, well written, dragged a bit for me in the beginning but I guess the biggest thing is I liked it enough to get the last one in the series, Cowboy Up to see what happens with Clay. :).

Kiss My Boots is the second book in the Coming Home series by Harper Sloan. It's all Southern charm and full of heart. We first meet Quinn Davis in Lost Rider. She's Maverick's baby sister and Leighton's best friend. In her book we witness another side to her. She's spunky, sassy, a fierce chick whose had her heart broken a lot throughout her life. She thought meeting Tatum Montegomery and giving her heart to him would finally heal her soul, but things don't always go as planned. Once again Quinn's heart is fractured. Fast forward 9 years and we meet the handsome Tate. Tate would spend his summers in Pine Oak with his grandparents where he meets, befriends, and falls madly in love with Quinn. Tate left all those years back and never once called or wrote, but after hearing about his Paw's death, he's ready to return and finally win his woman back. Quinn and Tate's relationship was sweet and sour. They didn't have an easy journey and a lot of obstacles stood in their way, but one thing they couldn't fight was their undeniable chemistry. Once they healed each other's soul it truly was like coming home. This book was a second chance love story with silly and sexy moments throughout. You'll see how tight knight the Davis' siblings really are and it'll only make you want all their stories! Bring on Clay's book, I think he just might be my favorite!!

Quinn & Tate's story gave my so much angst while reading.. I felt like the ball would drop for them. These two held strong and true through the entire story. I really love the Coming Home series and cannot wait for the next book. ~ Elizabeth ~ White Hot Reads Quintessential - adjective 1. of the pure and essential essence of something. 2. of or relating to the most perfect embodiment of something. Quinn is the quintessential hell-raiser! This girl is a total bad-ass; but behind her tough exterior she is guarded and has so much love to share. Too bad Tate took her heart away 9 years ago and never gave it back. So when he come back to town on a mission to get his girl, she gives him Hell... and he loves every minute of it. Tate is a protector and a fighter; and he has loved and will love Quinn to the end of the earth and back. This man kept himself away from her and her family to protect them all; when you see the reactions of this family to this you will fall more in love with them. Ohh Mrs. Sloan Give us more!!!!!

Actual Rating 4.85 OMG! Another beautiful second chance romance by Harper Sloan. I love the Coming Home series and Kiss My Boots was no different. I was beyond excited to read about Quinn, the baby sister of Davis family. She is a tomboy who runs her own mechanic shop, but has a sweet girly way about her. I loved Quinn in Lost Rider and was excited to read her book next. Quinn is someone I could't help but love. She is a firecracker and says the most outlandish things that has me laughing so hard. As the youngest and only girl Davis child she strongly relies on her brothers for strength and values their advice. The relationship between her brothers is very strong and I truly love this about the series. But Quinn is also vulnerable because she has abandonment issues from when her mother walked out on the family when she was just a baby. In Lost Rider she learns things about her mother that nearly shatters her. When the love of her life who walked out of town and broke her heart is coming home, Quinn is in freak out mode. Tate Montgomery has one thing on his mind, winning back the woman that he loves. I loved this romance. It is such a sweet second chance romance and Tate and Quinn are so damn perfect for each other. I loved seeing Quinn let go of all the hurt and open herself up to starting new with Tate. I loved that he knew exactly what he wanted and didn't hesitate to tell anyone who asked. He went out of his way to speak with Maverick and Clay about his relationship with Quinn and he was a strength by her side when she needed him the most. I could not have been happier with this book. I really loved it. I am beyond excited that I'll finally be getting Clay's book.

I really loved the first book of the series despite the language that made me cringe sometimes but was justified by the context. But, really, too many details of the couple intimacy for a romantic read though. And the second book was going way too far for me. I would have appreciated a warning in the comments about some scenes: too many descriptions of intimacy we don't need to feel the strengh of the bond between Tate and Quinn. PG 16 at least! I was however happy to reconnect with Leigh, Mav and Clay. The descriptions make you feel like you're in Pine Oak with all of them. I still want to discover the end in Cowboy up but hope that it'll be more tamed on sex. A good book, and it really has all the material to be one of them, doesn't need to push so far to entertain, or so I think...

I enjoyed this story about Quinn Everly Davis (baby sister) and Tate Montgomery. I enjoyed their journey to them finding their happy ever after.

This is 4.5 stars for me. Kiss My Boots is book 2 in the Coming Home series by Harper Sloan and just like the first book this one didnt disappoint in any way. This was the story of Quinn and Tate who were childhood friends who spent their summers together every year including special times until one day when Tate stopped all contact with Quinn....what would happen when Tate moved back to the place where Quinn still lived?? Queue tears.. tantrums and some straight talking home truths! This book has it all sadness happiness and mostly loveliness! Love having the background of other characters from this series and really can't wait until we get Clays book too! Another fab book by Harper!

We first met Quinn Davis in the first book in this series Lost Rider. I fell in love with this fantastic character then and really hoped she would be central in the next book. She’s my kind of gal, more comfortable tinkering with cars and hanging with the guys than being girlie. As a girl who grew up going to the garage on Saturday’s with her mechanic Dad while he worked I get that! Quinn’s first love was her only love, Tate up and left town never contacting her again after what she thought was the most amazing summer of her life when she was 18. In the years since she’s played the field, having flings, a few non-serious boyfriends but she’s been unable to commit to anybody because nobody comes close to Tate. So when Tate comes back to town, determined to win her back she fights her feelings hard, but are his reasons for deserting her worth listening to? Tate is a man on a mission, his love and passion shine through and his determination to make up for his mistakes, to prove himself not just to Quinn but also to her brother’s and best friend, to show he is an honourable and trustworthy man is heartwarming. I love how feisty Quinn is, I love that she fights for what she wants, despite all of her strength she still becomes overwhelmed by her feelings and consumed by doubt. Needing help and advice from those she loves. She is a fun woman and has a wonderful sense of humour and she is trusting and kind. This book gives us a wonderful couple and a second chance story that takes us through an emotional rollercoaster.
