It has different settings you can use, with or without heat. I love the glass liner and window so you can see what's going on inside.The instruction packet was very beautiful and impressive when I opened it. A cleaning brush is included to get to areas around the blade. They are sharp, so watch out!I made almond milk first since that is what I drink the most. This setting does not use any heat. It did seem to grind up my almonds finer that my blender does. I usually soak the nuts for several hours prior to making almond milk in my blender, so just dumping them in was different.This machine only makes about 1 cup at a time, so I made four batches. The setting for almond milk takes 6 minutes.Nowhere in the instructions does it say anything about straining the almond milk after the machine is done! I always strain it through a fine mesh strainer. (See video) You can use the strained bits of nuts in baked goods, like muffins, or feed it to your farm animals. (My chickens love it!)Flavor: I personally prefer the flavor of store bought almond milk. The texture is different. I do not want the extra added ingredients from store brands, so I make my own. But this is perfect to blend in smoothies or protein drinks.Second, I used it to boil water for a cup of tea. The setting for that is 8 minutes. You can see through the glass window to see when it is boiling.Third, I made a batch of rice milk. It turned out thick! It actually cooks the rice in the machine and blends it. I do not enjoy rice milk, but you might!It has a cleaning cycle. You can not get the milk machine wet, so you pretty much have to run the cleaning cycle, rinse very carefully, and dry with a towel.The machine will not operate without the lid on.In conclusion, this nut milk maker is well made. It would be good for someone who just uses a cup at a time.That would not be me! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fast, easy to use - but only makes single serving (2 cups maximum) *by D***H on Reviewed in the United States on 24 September 2023* I ordered this product to be able to make my own nut milk (without the additives, stabilizers, and sweeteners that store-bought includes). I was a bit surprised to discover that it only makes a single serving (maximum 2 cups) at a time - but that’s ok because it is SO fast to make. (And 2 cups is more than enough for our breakfast cereal!) The machine is very easy to use, pretty intuitive. Also, the user manual is straightforward - but a little spotty on some things. For example, it tells how to program the self-cleaning mode, but doesn’t mention how/when to use it - like adding detergent. (Though this mode doesn’t heat up the water, so I’m skeptical on how clean it really gets.) And there are only a few recipes included in the manual - not even all the items mentioned on the product photos (like coconut milk, oatmeal milk). Wish the maker included more recipes, especially to help me understand how “versatile” it is beyond nut milks.I tried making almond milk for the first time - very easy, just throw in a few ingredients, set the machine, and about 6 minutes later, it is done. It looked pretty creamy and tasted good (a bit watery, but I can adjust the water/nut ratio next time). However, there were some small bits in the bottom that didn’t get processed all the way - not a huge amount, but some. I think that if I soaked the nuts ahead of time, they would process more smoothly - and supposedly you get more nutrition out of the nut that way. Looking forward to trying a “smoothie” (room temperature?) from the recipes - maybe see if it will also chop up ice for a real smoothie!Basically, this little machine is a good quality, electronic bullet blender with option to heat.
