On this model does the metal sleeve at the tip of the pen slide in and out a couple of mm as the lead wears?

The metal sleeve of the mechanical pencil slides in and out when you press the release button on top of it in order to release the lead. I hope I have helped you with your choice. I think that both the pen and the mechanical pencils are very good to be used on a regular basis. They are simple and elegant, also there are many different colors to choose.

What do I do if the lead is jammed? I can't find a way to open 'clutch' which is what is common on other mechanical pencils?

I would go to a hardware store and see if you can get a very small diameter wire that you can insert into the end of the pencil to dislodge the lead.

Does the metal tip retract back into the body of the pencil?

The metal tip does not retract. It's a very nice mechanical pencil. I have many of these over the years. I have never had one break, unfortunately I have a tendency to lose them.

Hello. Is this the original one? The tip looks a little weird.

This is an original pen obtained directly from the CDA USA supplier and the tip reflects the fact that it is a mechanical pencil mechanism vs ballpoint pen.
