The knife is solid and the edge holds up very well. We haven't had a particular instance to test the tip, but we also don't look to break them so we don't know until there's a unique situation. The handle has a good design and the grip is excellent. The locking mechanism is far better than average and allows for a much safer stow than the countless cheaply designed mid-range folding knives. The one complaint there is plastic components, they should have been metal. I also would say it's grip can catch occasionally on clothes, but overall it's a good trade for the utility when younuse it. We are a scout family that does a ton of outdoor activity, and can definitely say the quality of this blade is far better than competitors in it's price range.

Well, the blade is good, the coating on the outside of the handle is very corse, it tend to stick to all clothing except leather. The leather it just acts as sand paper. SO, i put this one in the backpack.

The greatest knife for any use.

SOG makes solid products with quality materials. I am certain this is one of them, but, there are major design flaws in this knife. Personally, this knife doesn't fit properly in my hand, i.e., this is simply not the knife for me, much like a particular handgun, despite being well constructed by a reputable manufacturer, simply isn't a good "fit" for an individual's grip. But, generally, this knife has complications that would interfere with its use, e.g., the safety mechanism is awkwardly placed, the clip is insufficiently sized (far too small); when the knife is held in natural grip position, the fingertip flipper tab is very distal from the fingertip and hard to reach-- this is not a hand size issue, it's an ergonomic issue. Most significantly, the belt clip, which is very small and very raised, and is of wire construction rather than flat wide thin metal, entirely intereferes with a gripping posture which would make the knife a reliable weapon or tool. This knife is just not easy to use. It does not feature and seamless smooth operation. It is far over priced for what it actually is. SOG has a reputation which allows them to charge more money for their products when many equally sufficient products permeate the market. CRKT and Smith & Wesson are comparable. K-Bar, while also pricey, is comparable. Finally, this knife simply isn't versatile. It appears to be uni-functional, though, in my experienced opinion, this would not serve well as either a tool or a weapon. Perhaps worth buying because it is an SOG product but expect to pay far more for something you can obtain for a lesser price. WHen buying this knife, as should be standard for any EDC knife that has both tooling and self-defense potential built into its assumed use, take the time to truly and long-form test the knife-feel in your hand, practicing deployment, practicing unlockings and blade openings and closings and locking, drawing from multiple locations (pocket, small of back, opposite draw, front of waist); really take the time to see if this knife is actually for you. This knife wasn't for me-- part of that is that I just don't like the way it feels, but, the largest contriubting factor is the design flaws. SOG needs to revisit this and produce something that lives up to their reputation for USABLE and FUNCTIONAL UTILITARIAN items.

Excellent knife by SOG. I’m happy to see that company has moved away from the mass marketing on their knives. If it didn’t say SOG at least in four places so you did forget what brand it was lol. Stay this course SOG and your products will continue to be incredible. I would say the lock release and toggle are made of plastic as well as the thumb studs. I would like to see those in metal and not plastic in the future but that should not persuade anyone from buying this product.
