A basic starter telescope
Ordered this for my son who is really enjoying learning about space at school. The product description was very light on details and when the product arrived, the box itself is also very light on details of how powerful this is. And the most likely reason is because it's more akin to a toy than a telescope. It's quite difficult to setup. Expect to be able to see the stars and moon but don't expect to see much detail at all, even on a clear night. This is entry level for a telescope and I would instead describe it as a toy to get children familiarised with the basic concept of a telescope. My only worry is that for some children it could extinguish any interest in astronomy due to the limited clarity and magnification. Both my son and daughter do seem to enjoy it and the novelty of seeing what they may spot in the sky. At this price point you can afford not to be too precious with the telescope and let the children use it themselves/move it around the house/garden.So for a toy, I think it's adequately priced at £19.99 (at time of review), but if your children are really keen on space, it would be worth spending a bit more and splashing out on a real starter telescope with better magnification and better quality lenses.

Not all it’s cracked up to be
This was the Christmas present my son had been waiting for, to see stars and the night sky. Sadly, instructions were limited and the only thing that can be seen clearly are the street lights. In his words, ‘ my binoculars are better than this!’ Disappointing purchase

Works - but it's a toy
The telescope comes in a box with good instructions and everything you'll need to set it upsetting up for me wasn't difficult. It looks larger in pictures - and it is quite lightweightthe tripod is sturdy and stable enough for you to pan it and adjust to a fixed spotthe eye piece aperture is quite small but used correctly and you'll be able to see detail on the moon and just make out the orion nebula plus other objects. The eye piece is easy to fit and there are two magnifications - the high mag is tricky as the scope needs to be perfectly still - a slight jog and the image will wobble too muchThis is more or less a toy - which could be a fun present for a younger child. But for anyone else I'd recommend a pair of binoculars with a wider field of view to start off star gazing - followed by a proper telescope if you're serious.3/5

Great if you like looking at blurry images
I got this for my young daughter who has started to love anything space related so I thought this would be perfect for her. The telescope is lightweight and the instructions are easy to understand and follow, unfortunately that’s where the positives for this product end. This product looks and feels very cheap, although I am aware this is for children, I would imagine this wouldn’t last too long as a childs toy.No matter which setting we tried, this just wouldn’t focus very well which started to give me a bit of a headache trying. The legs also seemed to be poorly put together at factory as this wobbled quite a bit.Overall, I wouldn’t recommend, it’s looks okay as an ornament on a high shelf if your going for a “space theme” room, but for practical purposes, this is just frustrating.

Good starter telescope - ideal for kids
Cheap and cheerful but functional telescope, ideal for a first telescope for the intrepid space explorer. It will let youngsters get a taste for space and allow them to look at objects like the moon and closer planets (in the right conditions). It is light but it works and children don't need to be afraid handling a telescope worth hundreds. My daughter has dropped it a few times and its still in one piece and still working.Great cheap and cheerful Christmas present - good value for a beginner scope. Don't expect to be seeing the deepest depths of the milky way though.

Son loves it
My 9 year old absolutely loves it. Set up is relatively straight forward and once it’s set up it’s a great discovery tool for curious kids wanting to learn about the night sky. We bought it for my son because he is interested in space and planets at the moment but it would make for a great gift too for any young child.
