I do not intend to use these stamps with ink and paper. I intend to use them to imprint polymer and air-dry clays. I'm a miniaturist. I build dollhouses and dollhouse miniatures in various scales, from 1/144 to 1/12 scale. For a number of years I've been searching for small stamps that would be useful for impressing designs into clay. I think these are what I've been looking for. The six little stamps stand approximately 15/16" tall and are 1 1/8" in diameter. The actual stamp portions are of delightfully delicate designs that are in scale with some of my projects-in-the-works. Each stamp has a different design which is adhered to a round dowel (hardwood, I think) with double-sided self-adhesive foam pad to provide some give when stamping. The stamp designs remind me of old-fashioned crocheted doilies; very pretty and feminine looking. Due to the very small size of the stamp base, I suspect that using this product for long periods of time might result in hand cramps. For additional control in positioning the stamps and less risk of hand cramps, I'm considering purchasing unfinished wood finials or unfinished wooden drawer knobs to attach to the wood base to give something more meaty to grab onto when stamping. If I do follow through with this notion of giving the stamps handles, I think I'd try using a strong epoxy adhesive since using a screw to attach any kind of handle might be unfeasible. They are not super-duper deep, but they are very sufficient for stamping in the clay. They are deep enough that I can use pearlX and I have used inks as well. So, yes, they can be used for stamping clay. :) (and might I add, they are so beautiful, I am very happy with them) **Q: Can they be used with acrylic paint? Are they easy to wash? Thanks in advance** A: If you thin out your acrylic paint and use the technique of spreading out on a teflon sheet or counter protective mat this works well. Check out some of Tim Holtz videos on using that technique on Youtube videos. Anyway there are other ways to spread out the thinned paint including use of glass cutting mats. I have two. Both sold for crafting one specific to sewing one for card making. BUT you will need to clean up the rubber and the mat's both with water well before putting away or allowing to dry. The stamps need to be cleaned well. If however something goes wrong and you need to clean dried paint off interior bits of stamps then make a solution of calgary dishwasher soap using either dry or liquid form in water and allow to sit for a bit. Careful as stamps could separate from their handles. If that happens you would need to reglue after everything is clean and dried well. Anyway acrylic paint cleans up with water and soap and water well if you stay on top of it and get it while still wet. But it also can be scraped off glass craft mats and even peeled off teflon craft sheets just saves a lot of work ro get it done while wet rather than after it's dried. It's also forgiving say you paint over a painted wall for detail and design work and you don't care where you put the stamp or it smears. You can still while wet wipe clean with a damp paper towel or microfiber or even cut up older T-shirt rags. Good luck anyone who's interested in this application. Stay safe but have some FUN PEOPLE. **Q: Can I order a custom design?** A: yes **Q: Can these stamps be used with invisible ink?** A: I'm not sure what you mean by invisible ink. I'd think any ink would work. I've used them with VersMark Ink and used an extra fine embossing powder and heat set it if that's what you're talking about. I've stamped them with Black Verafine Ink and that has worked well, too. They are lovely little stamps with intricate and delicate designs.
