The design of these is lovely.  But the barrette itself...the metal clasp is FAR longer than the rest of the barrette.  So you place your pretty little clip, and what do you see?  A lovely flowered clip and about 1/2 inch of metal clip sticking out.  It's like someone selected the zipper for a jacket and then made the zipper two inches longer than the jacket!Ridiculous.They really are pretty, and I suppose if I had lot of hair (I don't, that's why I picked these as they're sold "for thin hair") the metal clip might not show, but it does, and it looks dumb.
