Review: Like it Better Than Wax! - I just got braces and my ortho gave me a sample container of this silicone, as well as a container of the similarly looking wax strips. After trying both, I like this one a billion times better. They both work well for protecting vulnerable, sore areas, but here are the differences: Wax: The wax is easier to get on, and teeth/braces do not need to be so dry for it to stick. But that's the only benefit in my opinion, as getting it off is a pain. You need to dig it out with a toothpick because it likes to break apart into pieces. Plus it can melt with hot liquids. Silicone: It harder to get on because the teeth and braces need to be pretty dry. I just use a piece of paper towel or a Q-tip to dry the area first (I make sure the q-tip doesn't leave fuzz in my brackets). But the awesome thing is that once the silicone is on, it stays really well. You can even eat with it on. When it's time to take it off, it comes off all in one piece very cleanly. And if you have it on several brackets with the silicone touching each other, it'll come off in one clean 'bracket-shaped' strip. The price for these nine packs is great as well. I don't worry about using it whenever I need it, because I know I have plenty.
Review: Found a method that works for me - As an adult, I'm wearing braces for a second time. If you're wearing them for the first time, wear your retainer! The lower permanent one came out after having it in 15 years and I thought I'd be fine. Nope! I don't remember having much of an issue with the brackets irritating my cheeks as a kid, but I decided to buy Orthosil just in case. I am so glad I did! I opted for the ceramic brackets on top and they're a little bigger than the metal brackets. On about the third day wearing the new braces I started to feel my cheeks get a little irritated. I have tried all of the methods mentioned in the top few reviews and I had problems with each. Mainly, if I placed the Orthosil on top of the brackets, it felt like it was putting too much pressure on my gums. Rolling and sticking didn't seem to work either, it seemed uneven and looked a little weird. Teeth dry definitely works better than wet, but it's hard to get them dry in the back and it's all of the brackets that are bothering me right now. Here is what I've found to work best for me. I take one strip of the Orthosil. Using my clean fingernail, I cut it in half. Then on each half I just flatten it out so it's a little wider and thinner. Then with the back teeth as dry as I can manage, I wrap it around the back of the last bracket (I have a little wire sticking out I need to have clipped) then start pushing it onto the front of the brackets and molding it over the arch wire. It ends about perfectly in the middle of my front teeth and then I repeat on the other side. Everything is perfectly covered and is clear enough that it's barely noticeable. It will even stay on while I eat and won't melt with warm liquids like wax will. I would definitely recommend Orthosil over wax any day!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Infinitely better than wax! So glad to have found this product!
*by J***D on June 26, 2017*

I purchased this silicone after fumbling with dental wax and hating it. I am an adult doing invisalign. I had braces as a child, but here we are again. Anyways- I have no problem making this silicone stick...yes, sometimes it sticks to my finger or won't initially stick to my aligner, but it is no more difficult than dental wax to apply and infinitely better. It's easy to use a small about on sharp areas and "smooth" it out so it's protecting your cheek/tongue but also not bulky. I also find it to be much more clear than wax, so if I need to apply to the front of my teeth, it is not very visible, if at all.. You get a ton of product for the price, and I couldn't be more thankful I found it. I often apply it to my aligner while it is out of my mouth...pop the aligner in, and adjust as necessary. I've found this to be easiest and to get me the best results.
