How do I replace the batteries?

There is a compartment in the base of the frother. You unscrew the base and replace the batteries. It comes with 3 AAA batteries.

Do you have to hold the power button down while operating

No, you press it and let go. Then press again when you want it to stop.

Have you ever put the detached whisks in the dishwasher? Are they safe and clean enough after the cycle?

I have never tried putting it in the dishwasher . I just run the whisk under hot water or immerse in soapy water with it turned on. It's a quick cleanup and rinse off solution. I never let it dry with any type of food particles on it either. Powerful little tool which I use several times each day....latte lover!

How does the 12 month guarantee work? I've had bad luck with frothers

Mine stopped working all together in six month. Batteries were changed twice.
