From the Manufacturer With Lutron’s Maestro IR dimmer with Philips Universal Remote, it’s possible to control a TV and lights from one remote --now you don’t have to get up from the comfort of a couch to dim the lights! Using it is easy, just replace an existing light switch with the Maestro IR dimmer and pair it with the Philips Universal remote (which comes preprogrammed to work with the dimmer) to a TV. In a matter of minutes, it’s a snap to conveniently control lights, TV, DVD, and cable box/satellite all with one remote. the Maestro IR dimmer also works with other learnable remotes. The dimmer could also be added to a family room to instantly increase the versatility of the space--brighten the lights for game night and dim them for movie night. It can be used in any room with incandescent and halogen bulbs, single pole applications only.

Does what it is designed for well and simplifies your life
I like this product because of the universal remote control that is bundled with it. I really did not want yet another dedicated IR remote control in my room. I programmed this remote to work with all the electronics in the room and it is wonderful to sit back and control everything in the room (including the lighting!) with this one remote. Installation was really easy. I like how the dimmer indicator lights have a faint glow after you turn the lights off so that you can locate the switch in an otherwise dark room. The only warning I would like to state is that this is designed only for incandescent or halogen lighting and it needs a minimum load of at least 60 watts on it to function properly. You would not want to buy this if you have "dimmable" fluoroscent or LED light bulbs that you need to control.
