Convert from Bruan and a great improvement
Took something of a leap of faith with a Norelco shaver, having used lots of Bruan foil shavers over the years. I have a fairly light beard and somewhat sensitive skin (tend to get ingrown hairs) but the challenge for me is random direction growth on my neck. Braun shavers worked OK, but pulled and tended to cause more bumps. Shifted to both straight razors and old-school DE's but really wanted the convenience and speed of an electric. I was concerned about the shape of the heads getting under the nose, but it works fantastic. I may have had low expectations due to countless online reports that rotary shavers are not close shavers. This is complete BS! Using the Norelco has been a joy, and for an even closer shave I've discovered using a bit of shower gel and wet shaving in a nice hot shower. I can honestly say that this thing provides a shave as close as a DE or a straight with 2 passes. The Space Grade Edition, SP9886/89 version is (IMHO) a bit overpriced BUT I will concede the color is fantastic! On the plus/value side, this package does come with maxed out accessories. The clipper and nose/fine trimming attachments are very good, despite having to swap them out compared to integrated trimmers. Some have complained about the Qi wireless charging being slow, but I have found it to be great and despite my (and wife's) OCD nature, it looks great on the countertop. The full charge lasts much longer than I expected and despite the Qi pad being too large to conveniently pack on a trip, I don't travel for 3+ weeks so it is ZERO concern. The cleaning pod is quite effective, but I tend to wash the shaver with a little hand soap and spray with some Andis clipper spray instead. Will test drive the cleaner more in the coming months but actually find it useful. The travel case is HUGE, but I will say that it is no more cumbersome than the shaver-only cases available. I purchased a shaver-only case from Hermitshell (great BTW) and just the plastic head-cover (also great) and would submit that it you are REALLY pressed to minimize space, the best bet for travel is to pick up the head cover, pull it from the shaver and pack the two in your douche kit. If not cramped for space, the case that come with the shave is actually great. So a long-winded post, to say I am exceptionally pleased with the Space Grade Edition, SP9886/89 Norelco! I say that, fully ready to return it and buy the new Bruan 9 Pro if it sucked, but this thing is on-point. If you are comparing shavers, this is WELL worth your time. I say that having used nearly every shaving implement available leveraging technology from the 19th century to today. Yup, it's that good...

A Great Shave with The Prestige Space Grade Shaver
I purchased the S9886/89 Space Grade Prestige. I had been using the wireless Prestige for three years in two incarnations. However neither one included the Quick Clean pod and both of my previous versions were not compatible with the pod even if I tried to add it. Therefore I decided it was time to purchase the model that included both the wireless pad and the cleaning pod. I hope the cleaning pod used after each shave, will reduce and/or eliminate the need for deep cleaning. The shave was even better than with my two previous ones. Closer and quieter. The pod works well and I use it after each shave. I leave the shaver in the pod for a few hours to “dry”. After that I take it out, open the flip-head and let it air dry on the charging pad. The shaver is not cheap, but definitely worth it in my opinion. It is way too early to comment on battery life. I find it compact and easy to hold while shaving. The pop-up head is a great feature. I love the navy blue color. The manual suggests leaving it in the pod to air dry. I found it takes way too long to dry that way. Even after several hours. the shaving head is still damp. After an hour or two, I remove the shaver from the pod, flip open the shaver and leave it on the wireless charging pad to air dry. Edit: I decided to try the matte black model. This does not offer wireless charging. The shave is great and the Quick Clean pod is really effective in keeping the shaver well maintained. Use with the charging cord is very easy. Just plug it in at the bottom. Shaver holds a charge. Very close shave.

Better than expected Norelco S900 Prestige SP9841/84
I have been using Norelco electric razors since High school. My Dad didn’t want to teach me to shave with a blade and he used a Norelco also. Didn’t have much of a beard until my 20’s but at that time I switched to a twin blade for shaving. But it was just too inefficient with time for early morning going to work routine. Norelco was never as close of a shave as a blade, also some of the Norelcos I have owned over the years had been quite brutal to the face. I finally decided to treat myself to their top-of-the-line shaver. I had always bought more of the lower to mid-range Norelco models before. What a difference Norelco S900 Prestige makes. Close as a razor? Yes. Comfortable shave? Absolutely. Great shave wet or dry. Most days I want to shave in under a minute, and this does a great job for everyday shaving. On special occasions I do a wet shave with Cremo Shave Cream and my face is as smooth as a barber’s shave. I can’t believe what a difference there is between their mid-tier and top dog models. If you can afford it, I highly recommend purchasing the Norelco S900 Prestige. Not cheap, but considering this is replacing the Norelco AT830/41 Shaver 4500 I bought in 2016 that was still running, the cost per year is not all that high. It charges fast and gives me plenty of shaves on a single charge. I like that the new version of the head cover flips up to clean the heads instead of the entire cover needing to be lifted. The beard trimmer works and it is so much easier to see where you’re cutting compared to the razors with built in trimmer. I do like the trimmer built into the other model razor for convenience better even though this trimmer is superior. One last point, Norelco razors work better if you have a heavy beard on your neck and they shave the curved areas better than foil razors. Loving the prestige SP9841/84 after using it a month. Don’t see any reason that will change.

I bought this to replace my Philips 9850 which I bought in 2018. Sadly, the whole head of the 9850 kept popping off when I shaved. And it would sometimes seize up too. I was quite happy with the shave on my old shaver, although it took a bit too long to get a very close shave. The new shaver shaves closer. It's not perfect, but I take less time compared to my old shaver. I still have to go over the same spot several times, but it is quicker, and closer. Just a bit disappointed that my old shaver only lasted 6 years. The battery is still good, and the shave is still good with new heads. I paid more for the Prestige shaver, because I liked the indented grip, which is similar to my old 9850. The new Series 9 bodies do not have this indented grip. Got this on a 12.12 sale, and it was a decent price, with an extra set of blades.

Es una maravilla, lo bien y lo rápido que puedo afeitarme sin lastimarme. Es la mejor rasuradora que he usado a la fecha.

It feels solid, its quiet and it shaves well. 12-14 days between charges. One of the best shavers I have ever had. And its made in Holland, the home of the original Phillips shavers. Recommended!!
