I've replaced these thermopiles a few times in the thirty years I've had my Vermont Castings Stardance LP stoves. I could have purchased one locally for $102, (seriously!). However replacing the thermopile didn't fix the first stove this time. I found a technician, out side his service area, that was willing to work on it if I brought the burner to him. He tested it and concluded it needed a thermocouple. To get a thermocouple you purchase the pilot assembly which comes with a thermopile. I also learned, despite what I've done in the past, that you're not supposed to replace the thermopile separate from the pilot assembly. However-people do. I learned that if the pilot light doesn't stay on then it is the thermocouple. If the stove pilot light stays on but the burner doesn't light then the thermopile is bad. Ironically, I have a second VC Stardance stove that held a pilot light but would not light up. I replaced the thermopile in this one and it worked!! So, I've learned something. One last thing-where the thermopile goes through the pilot assembly holder (a hole) it was a hair too small so with a few strokes of a chain saw file I got the thermopile to slide through into position. Of course, you should protect the pilot hole from any metal dust you create.

Price was great, reviews so so. I installed in a wall heater 12k btu easy to install BUT it flaked apart in no time 2 1/2 months and now I need a new one. Heater is 11 years and only had to install 2 prior to this one.

Great little thermopile. It was for my gas fireplace. Flames kept going out. Did the google research and decided to give it a try. The replacement of the thermopile was fairly easy although the new thermopile needed some ‘ convincing’ to go into its new home. Hardest part was getting all the logs back into the correct locations to rebuild the fireplace. Pro tip: take bunch o pics. Take one log off and take a pic rinse and repeat. However finally figured it out.
