Second Update, another 11 months later: I really like this lamp, so after experiencing great customer service I bought another one. And darned if the same switch went bad in the same way on the second lamp 11 months after I bought that on. But hey, no real problem. The light still worked when I plugged it in, I just couldn't change the brightness. So I contacted customer service for this one, and they sent me another switch section. Mailed it from China, and it got here pretty quickly via DHL. While I'm very pleased with their customer service, I really wish they could look into better quality control at the factory or use a more robust switch. Still, I won't knock any stars off for that because their customer service is really top notch. Update 11 months later: The switch on my lamp went bad. A simple email to Trond and they sent me a replacement section. They didn't have one in stock so they shipped it from China. It arrived in just a few days. Fits and works perfectly. They even gave me an international tracking number, but I hardly needed it. Very prompt. I am very happy. Modern minimalist design. Easy to use, easy assembly. Nice bright light uses only 30W. Decent instructions, quality packaging. Tall lamp puts the bulbs up above eye level even for taller people. What's not to love? It comes in a little cardboard suitcase box with a carrying handle. Inside everything is plastic wrapped in form fitting foam. The parts screw together easily without gaps or bends. You can install the switch tube anywhere you want, high or low. The power converter is not polarized, so it can go in any wall socket. The power cord is a good length and the long mini-plug goes in the bottom tube securely. No wires between the tubes to get all twisted up like in lesser torchiere lamps. You can tilt and spin the light head, which is very nice. Angle the light to where you want it. 3 discrete touch sensitive switches give you 5 brightness settings, a built in setting memory, and a 30 minute timer setting. The light is white, not yellow, and is bright enough to do the job. First class. And if it lasts 5 years it will be worth every penny (pamphlet says bulbs are good for 22 years at 5 hours per day). Oh, one more thing. The base plate is a thin disk of metal the same diameter as the light head. It's heavy enough to keep this nearly 6 foot tall lamp stable even on thick carpet. And don't worry if you put it on wood floors, since the underside of the base has hidden little adhesive felt feet (complete with toes!) to prevent scratches. That's a fun touch.

This lamp provides the room with great white color and a decent amount of light. It’s not as bright as I thought it may have been for the price, but does a good job of lighting up the room as needed without you having to look directly at a light. Its modern design puts the light angled toward the ceiling so you never really see it. The stand has a heavy base, and the poles are thin. I think the coolest thing about it is how you put it together by just screwing each one together for it to work. The second coolest thing is that you “hit it” to change its brightness. Its nice to have the lamp keep the same brightness level as when it is turned off digitally, but don’t really need that or the 30 minute timer since it is hooked up to my wifi voice control. My only issue with this type of lamp is the higher price point for them since you can get a similar effect with a very cheap lamp and a Torchiere light bulb. However if you like the modern slim look and features, quality, daylight color then I would highly recommend this.

Up front, let me admit that my eyesight is poor in low light. Mood lighting makes me moody and is a physical danger. That being said, I looked for a torchere type light that was both dimmable and very bright. I did not care if the light was warm or daylight - just bright. I was astonished at !) how easy this was to assemble. It took longer to read the instructions than actually assemble. And, you can add or remove a pre-electrified tube if you might for some reason want it much shorter. 2) The sections are pre-wired. No trying to thread cords, pull, tighten, hope it stands up etc. You assemble the base, screwing in the lower tube with plug inlet, then each section and finally the tilt top. Easy! Then you plug in the power cord (like a computer cord) into the base and voila! Beautiful light. I am beyond thrilled. The press dimmer on the pole increases or decreases the amount of light, and there is a timer that automatically shuts it off after 30 minutes so you don't have to wander your apartment or home in the dark on the way to bed. This is NOT a warm light. It is clean, not yellow at all. And this is going to make a significant difference for me. I may even buy another one for my bedroom. And the modern sleek design is very nice. As to how long the LED's last, I'll have to see. I just set it up and so far am very pleased. So pleased, I am actually writing a review - which I never do.

I agonized over what lamp to get and thought "natural daylight" would be the right option. Big mistake - it ends up delivering a very harsh white light, something more in the 3000K range would have been much better for the sitting room where I am using this. After dealing with it for a couple of years I just came up with a great fix - get some filtering gels (essentially clear sheets of colored plastic used on photography equipment), which are around $15 on Amazon. I cut one to fit the top of the lamp and used carpet tape to stick it on - brings the light to the right temperature and you otherwise don't see it because it's on the top of the lamp. There's a nice flat surface and the lamp doesn't get too hot so it's perfect! Other than that am very happy with the lamp, have had it for a few years now and it is very reliable. It's pretty basic in appearance but basically just blends into the background and delivers a lot of light.

This lamp is replacing a 'Full Spectrum Black Torchiere Standing lamp' that I purchased 12 years ago for a home office. I liked it enough to buy a second that we placed in a study. The problems started perhaps six years later when one developed a problem with the On-Off switch. Some days it would turn on, and others it wouldn't. No predicting its mood. I placed a small backup lamp in that room for the 'Off-Days.' The second unit failed more spectacularly. I turned it on one day and about 30 minutes later there was an awful, toxic smell in the room. Several frantic minutes later I was able to determine that the smell was coming from the top of the Full Spectrum Torchiere. Something had started to fry. Time for a replacement! We've been using this Trond lamp for a little over 3 weeks now. I was very pleased with it from the start, buy decided to wait a bit before reviewing it, in case something would fail. So far so good. PROS: Very good build quality. Easy to assemble. No moving parts (so no switches to fail). The five brightness levels provide a nice range that I think is as good as the Full Spectrum units. The heat from the LEDs is minimal, even when the lamp is set to its highest brightness level. The lamp height is fine for me (I'm 5 feet 9 inches). CONS: There is nothing I would change about the lamp, so I'm giving it 5 stars. The blue LED behind the Power Button is fairly bright. Someone who needs complete darkness for sleep might want to avoid putting this lamp in a bedroom. Aside: I used Apple's FaceTime to give one of my brothers a demo of the lamp. He decided to try one and so far is very pleased with his too.

I wanted something bright but that could be dimmed. I purchased 2 other products and they were more challenging to assemble, somewhat flimsy, and not tall enough to light the room. Then I found the Trond LED lamp. The first one I ordered was so easy to assemble and sturdy. The electrical system is integrated into the poles so there are no cords to pull through the poles like the other models I chose. The controls are straightforward and simple. The highest setting is very bright and lights up the entire room. I liked the first one so much I purchased 2 more. The controls are straightforward and simple. My only issue is that the first one I purchased would retain it's dimness when turned on and off by the light switch. The 2nd and 3rd ones I purchased do not do that unfortunately so every time you turn them on they come on at full brightness. I was disappointed as I really wanted this feature but I can just dim it manually. There were some conflicting comments regarding this feature in the reviews I read regarding this which is puzzling. Overall this is one well made lamp that has a nice clean appearance. I am happy with my purchases.

I love how heavy duty the lamp is, feels solid metal, or at least mostly is! Very sturdy & sleek! The touch controls work great, & I just LOVE the daylight LED lights! I live in the PNW [Pacific Northwest] where it is gloomy & raining/cold a lot between fall & winter— this lamp helps me feel more alive & motivated in such depressing weather!! And it’s the only lamp I could find that turns on at the dimmest setting after being unplugged/turned off at the outlet with a daylight tone! BEST LAMP EVER!! I also ordered two of them [one black, one silver], I needed to return one, but barely missed the return window— I contacted TROND asking if they would still accept my return/refund for the black one, & they not only gave the refund, they let me keep it!! I was totally WOW’d by their generosity!! Based on my experience from using this product, & dealing with their customer service— I will recommend this company to anyone looking for a lamp to invest in, and buy my future lamps from TROND if they carry the kind I want!! The only negative thing I’d have to say is that I wish the silver lamp came with a white plug/cord— It came with the standard black power cable, which is a no-no in my mind especially when they’ve invested in the rest of the design so well!! Other than that, no complaints here! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

The lamp itself is slim and modern and nice looking. It is standing fairly sturdily on carpet even though the base is small. The light is not as bright as I thought it would be, but at the same time, it is not glaring either. The scope of light on the ceiling is about 3 feet. I am going to need a second one to fully light my dark room that has a dim center ceiling light. I am giving it 4 stars because of the lack of brightness and the area it covers compared to cost. I feel it should light half the room at least.

Assembly was simple. This is a seriously bright light. There is no remote but I have it on a wall switch and it's perfect. I have a very dark section of my home and I really needed a bright light. This is almost overkill. It was everything I wanted and then some. I should add ... as others have stated it is wobbly. It's top heavy and doesn't feel ultra secure but I live a lone and it's a non issue. With small children it could be a concern.

This light gets daily use and does a great job, from a low background level to really brightening up the room. The soft-touch controls are nice and easy to use, I don't miss having a remote for it (would rather not have yet another remote around actually). Easy to set up, am very happy we have it.

Our living room has a cathedral ceiling and is difficult to illuminate. With this lamp, we angled the light towards one of the walls and, in the evening, it can illuminate the entire space as if it's daytime. You can place the controls at different heights and can omit one or more of the base rods depending on height requirements. We are extremely pleased with this product.

Order delivered fast. The box is in a nice packaging. Product was easy to assemble. The floor lamp itself has a nice modern design which I like so much. Since it's LED, it's Energy efficient and safe compare to halogen lamp. It has a nice blue light indicator that shows the Power button and to increase or decrease the brightness. The only thing that I didn't like is every time you plug the power even if you had previously turn if Off, the lamp automatically turns On. Other than that, I love my purchase and hope that we would be able to used this lamp in many years to come.

Perfect for my dark home office - nice bright light for daytime work with ability to dim to a level that is less stimulating when working later in the evening/night. Good value, sturdy product, easy to set up, light-up power button on the lamp post so easy to find in the dark to turn it on.
