I add Japanese multi grain mix to my white rice for health reasons. But these mix packs, good variety ones are quite expensive, so I usually buy very basic ones, like the photo, and add other grains, such as Food to Live Organic Hulled Barley, to increase the varieties. This way, it becomes much much cheaper than buying premixed ones, and I can adjust the taste as I like. This grain does not have strong flavor, so it can easily be added to white rice, and increase your intake of minerals.

Fantastic product and I use this in a Vegan chili recipe along with TVP for its nutritional value and flavor.

Great hulled barley! All the benefits of the whole grain! A little time to soak & prep - but well worth it. I see reviews where people are displeased with it - they are thinking 'hulled' means the hull has been removed. 'Hulled" means the grain has the hull! They need to search for hull-less barley or pearl barley!

Great for my homemade ezekial bread. Good flavor for soups and sprouted grains.

This barley has a pleasant taste & texture when pressure cooked in lightly salted water. On one or two occasions I did notice a small, very hard object slightly smaller than a dry barley berry among the cooked grain, which was an unpleasant interruption while eating the otherwise nice barley.

Good quality. Great taste. No debris to clean out. Kind of pricey, but convenient and no waste like in some other brands I have purchased.

Because I own a flour mill, I was intent on milling the flour for an otherwise complicated, ingredient-wise, Ezekiel bread. Hulled barley was one of the major ingredients; however, I couldn't find it in local stores. I bought it here, and I don't regret it. Now that I have it, I can use it for other recipes, including soup and salads. The barley arrived fresh with an expiration date well into the future. The reclosable bag means that I don't have to waste another bag to keep the grain contained. This isn't a large bag -- it contains maybe two cups -- but since 1 cup of barley expands to 3 cups of cooked barley, it should be enough for most people. -- Debbie Lee Wesselmann

Birds loved it

Just looking at the barley you can tell its of very high quality. I can see no pits or stones anywhere in the product. Its packaged wonderfully and arrived promptly. The package is filled well too, worth the money. I can't wait to taste it.
