Goldilocks and the Three Bears

Stunning
I first discovered Lauren Child when my oldest child, now 11, fell in love with the original Charlie and Lola books. Since then I have never been disappointed with her work and this is no exception. My 2 younger children sat in spellbound silence while I read this to them yesterday. It is a magical book, with stunning artwork and a story that has to be the best re-telling of this fairy tale I have read. I would recommend it for any child between 2 and 7 years and is sure to become a treasure you will return to over and over again. It seems to me that Lauren Child is sensible enough to keep a great deal of control over her work. The television adaptation of Charlie and Lola was a great success. Other very good childrens books, most notably Horrid Henry, did not seem to have the same kind of effort put into them. However, Lauren Child is certainly correct to be very wary of what she puts her name to and the high quality of her work makes it a pleasure for the adult as well as the child. She has certainly involved my children in a love of books for which I am very thankful and I would advise everyone to purchase this book today.

Goldilocks on location
My Grandchildren love this book and I really love the pictures as it reminds me of the programmes I use to watch as a child. However the younger generation 40 downwards finds it creepy. The majority of them usually say to me it reminds them of a horror movie. Weird. The colours used in the book are very appealing and comforting. The Grandchildren like to point at the pictures and talk about what they see. It's a well written and very colourful book

"Goldilocks DID get into trouble...because her curiosity always got the better of her"
A cute and different representation of the fairy-tale using photographs instead of paintings. I loved the bears' little log cabin with turf roof!It has a slight twist in that Goldilocks removes her little red shoes to go to sleep, and forgets them when escaping, so Small Bear gets to keep them. My toddler (nearly 2) granddaughter isnt quite up to having it read to her yet, but with the photos we talk through the story, I ask her questions and we point to things in the house. She loves it!Very attractive and nicely written.

The illustrations are really beautifully done, fab photography work and the little toy ...
This is a charming little book, goldilocks with a slightly unusual twist with the red shoes at the end. The illustrations are really beautifully done, fab photography work and the little toy characters are brilliant. We had borrowed this book from our local library and my four year old was reluctant (point blank refusing) to bring it back he loved it so much so had a look online and found it here for £0.01! The book while used was in excellent condition and a great buy.

Imaginatively illustrated!
Lovely book to read, and my 2 1/2 year granddaughter loves the story-line and pictures in the book.

Different
I bought this book because I enjoy reading the Lauren Child books to my granddaughter, this book is different, no drawings but photographs of a rustic cottage in the middle of the wood, a doll and three teddy bears. At the beginning my three and a half years old granddaughter was not quite sure if she liked it or not, but now is one of her favorites.

Scary illustrations
My granddaughter is a lover of books - she did not like this one and refused to look at it because the illustrations are really scary.

Creepy
This book is kind of creepy. It looks like dead stuffed animals put in ridiculous poses. It reminded me of that film where the guy makes scenes with dead stuffed mice! I couldn't look at it without feeling weirded out so there was no way I was going to give it to a child, I sent it back!
