Great product: Use indoors
I liked the weight of the handle and different rope weight options.I used the rope outside and it wore through very quickly unfortunately.

Screws dont bottom out
So its arrived but the black rope came with a kink that cannot be removed so it will trip you up and more importantly one of the crews in the handle holding the rope wont bottom out so it will not securely lock down the rope making it almost unusable

Skip like a pro
The media could not be loaded. So this skipping rope is definitely not for beginners. If you haven't learned to skip properly yet, practice on a normal rope, and then transition to this pro one.It comes with two different cables of different thickness, depending on your preference and they are easy to install. The top of the handles have a screw in, which you loosen, to insert the new cable. From then, its just a matter of finding the right length. The cables are HUGE, so you might wanna cut them down if you are not over 6 feet tall. The cables are prone to tangling, but I am sure the better you get, the better you will get at keeping them untangled.Skipping is a phenomenal way to exercise, and these ropes are a good start.

Decent
Not the best skipping rope I've used, but not the worst either. The design of the actual rope (as distinct from the handles) is good - steel rope covered with a protective plastic tube. I've been training and fighting Muay Thai for a lot of years, have used a lot of ropes, and have come to favour the steel-rope-covered-by-tough-plastic variety, as they're the fastest type of rope and the most durable. My go-to rope is of this design, although its steel is twice as thick and considerably heavier than the steel in this Via Fortis rope, which feels flimsy in comparison. Also, the Via Fortis rope's handles aren't as ergonomic as they could be. I acknowledge that everyone's ergonomics are different, though, so perhaps the rotational movement of these handles would feel correct to some people. To me, there's a little friction - not a lot, but enough to niggle and annoy me. My favourite ropes have an absolutely frictionless movement. The Via Fortis rope gives the user the option of changing the weight of the handles, by inserting or removing small weights that come with the rope. This is a thoughtful design feature but not one I'd use. With the weights removed from the handles, the rope (which is too light for my liking anyway) weighs even less and feels flimsy. With the weights installed in the handles, the entire rope feels much better. It does seem that this review has focused on the negatives, but that's only because I'm used to a rope that's utterly perfect - heavyweight steel rope, tough plastic cover, and handles that allow frictionless rotation. This Via Fortis rope is well made and has a couple of options that might be useful for some people (adding/removing weight to/from the handles as mentioned already, but also easy adjustment of the rope's length - a thoughtful touch and a good design feature). If you want a heavy-duty rope for serious skipping over long durations, this isn't the one for you. But if you like the idea of a lighter rope that's durable and relatively quick, as well as having a couple of easy adjustment options, you could do a lot worse than this one.

Quality skipping rope
I haven't used a skipping rope for many years, but I know it's a great addition to a fitness regime, so I thought I'd give it a go.First impressions are great: this is a well-made piece of kit.Instead of a rope you have a thin cable - there are two, a heavier one and a lighter one. Not sure which one is the best for a beginner - the lighter one because it is lighter, or is the lighter one for someone ore experienced or who wants to skip faster? I'll have to do some research, it's a shame more information wasn't provided in the instructions.Instructions are very basic - how to get the right length, and how to adjust the weight in the handles. It comes with two pieces of rubber tubing, one thicker than the other - I had no idea what these are for until I started looking at similar items as the instructions do not mention them at all. They are for outdoor use - slide onto the rope when using outdoors to protect the cable from hitting the ground directly, which will cause damage to the cable. The cable does have a tendency to curl, which makes me reluctant to keep it in the little bag provided - instead I will keep it hanging up on the wall. I presume that all skipping ropes using cable rather than rope would have this problem though.I forgot how hard work skipping is! But it is great exercise, and having a quality rope like this will encourage me to do it more often. My only question is the price - it does seem expensive compared to other, similar ropes on Amazon. If you found this review useful, please click on the "Helpful" button below. Good If You Aren't Very Tall
This is a great, professional standard skipping rope provided that:a) You aren't over 6 foot tall (I'm 6'5" and the ropes are too short)b) You don't want to remove the weights (mine are jammed in and cannot be shifted)If you pass that test you'll probably love it.The rubber covered handles are very comfortable, and with the extra weights give a good additional workout to your arm and chest muscles. The two ropes are covered wire, which have excellent momentum and help achieve a really fast pace if you go for the burn. Useful rubber sleeves are provided to protect them from hard surfaces, too. The wires are adjustable to a point (I wish they were longer!) and amply secured. Running on ball bearings they turn smoothly and without noise. If only it was long enough for me and the supposedly removable weights worked, I'd award this 5 stars. I think 4 is fair in the circumstances. If you're six foot or under and want heavy handles, this is probably a 5 star purchase for you, and one I'm happy to recommend.
