More for your money.
36 pencils in 3 packages. NOT pre- sharpened. Excellent quality. Much better value for the price compared to other made in USA cedar pencils on Amazon right now. We own both types and both are excellent pencils only the other brand is $8+ for 12 pre-sharpened pencils where these are $8+ for 36. If you have a sharpener and can sharpen these yourself it's a much better value. These stay sharp and do not break. They write smooth not gritty. Erase easily. best school pencil as kids do not spend all day sharpening and re- sharpening.

Excellent Pencils, In A Class By Themselves
This is without a doubt the best quality economy pencil I've ever tried. It's vastly superior to the Dixon Ticonderoga. The graphite writes clear, dark lines that erase cleanly. The enamel is bright and smooth, with clear gold stamping. They are absolutely beautiful pencils. I ordered the 36 pack, and liked them so much I ordered the 144 pack.

Nice but...
The lead is a bit too soft for me and was off center in three of the dozen. What I do like about them is they are slightly larger in diameter than a standard pencil, one hole up from standard on my manual crank sharpener. I found that after a while the rather sharp corners of the hexagon began to be noticeable. The Staedtler Rally is also a hexagonal pencil but the corners are slightly rounded and more comfortable. These are all personal quibbles and I can't complain about the build quality.

Nice Pencil and They Smell Good Too
These are some nice pencils for the pencil aficionado or anybody writing things on paper. Love the orange color so I can tell when someone has stolen one from my desk. A little more softness creating a darker line and these would be pretty close to perfection. The blue erasures are a little wobbly and gritty but they do seem to last through the length of the pencil.

Pretty good.
I’ve been sampling pencils this fall and saw references on other Amazon reviews about these. I use pencils a lot in the shop and was not looking specifically for just how they work on paper but how they hold up on paper and wood. I’ve always used Ticonderogas which work ok, but I was finding they often break and when you go to resharpen, they keep breaking. The Golden Bears so far seem better. I need to adjust the dial on my exacto sharpener up one size for them to fit which isn’t that big of a deal. I also sampled the Mitsubishi pencils which may also be up one size. I’ve also sampled a couple models of the Generals, the Cedar Point and the Semi-Hex. The Golden Bears are the cheapest so they have that going for them as my son keeps taking them all to school and tells me he sees lots of other kids using them. I’m not crazy about the blue color and the Golden bear graphic is a bit dull. The blue paint is also a bit thin feeling and the Golden Bears seem to erase the worst out of all the pencils I’ve tried. My son liked the Cedar Points. Not sure exactly why, but he says they erased well. I sort of like the painted finish better. I think the General Semi-Hex is my favorite, although I just used the Mitsubishi a couple times so far. The paint on the Mitsubishi is the nicest, but I don’t think the wood is cedar and it’s s little harder to sharpen and the lead didn’t seem as centered as the generals, but they may be due to it moving a bit in the sharpener. The semi-hex seems to have a slightly harder lead thannthe others and holds up well in the shop. Anyway, I’d buy the Golden Bears again for A cheaper US pencil, but I think the Semi-Hex will be my go to pencil for now.

Great replacment for Mead
Great pencils to replace my dwindling supply of Mead #2's. They are a better quality than the old meads; sharpen better, and have smoother and darker lead. Oh yeah, and they are blue, so I can tell the difference between the cheap offshore pencils, and of course, the old Meads.

Excellent pencils
These are great everyday sorts of pencils. They not only look distinctive (so you know if someone's walked off with your pencils) but they are also wonderfully made. The graphite is the right softness for everyday writing. It's clear, not prone to breaking and erasable without easily smudging.

Excellent pencils.
Well centered cores with a great combination of smoothness and feedback. Point retention is very good, and the line produced is very dark. The eraser works well. An excellent Made in USA pencil at a really affordable price.
