Absolute must have of you are even remotely interested in Prince and Purple Rain.
Firstly, this book is BEAUTIFUL in every way. The presentation is stunning, the writing is hypnotic, the images are first rate. At the price currently showing on Amazon, just buy it. Even if you're just a little intrigued by the man himself, or the music, or the movie....... Buy it! Buy two, in fact, because this book is a true work of art. Seriously considering getting one framed.

A lovely thing
I'm a huge Prince fan, and over the years I've built up quite a collection of books about the man, as well as well over a hundred records. Some of the books have been great, others not so, and the thought of yet another book about Purple Rain wasn't really enthusing, but this one is a lovely thing. First impressions are that it's big - about the size of an LP - but not too thick, and comes in a slipcase. The case is covered in a purple fuzzy felt type material. It's a bit of a novelty, and to be honest when I received my copy I carefully cut the cellophane where the book slides into the case and left the plastic wrapping on the cover as I was concerned that it may rub off over time, mark other books next to it, and so on. The book itself is a hardback, and is lavishly illustrated. Unlike other books, many of the pictures here were new to me, and there are lots of pictures of concert tickets, backstage passes, advertisements, and press articles. Each chapter in the book deals with a different subject, such as Prince's career before "Purple Rain", The Revolution, the first side of the album, the second side of the album, the movie, the tour, other tracks recorded in that era (B-sides, released vault tracks), and the legacy of the album. It's not the longest book, and I read it slowly over a few evenings, but I really enjoyed it, and it's certainly a welcome addition to my Prince library.

Great collection of photos and written content
Very nicely presented book, with photos of ticket stubs etc. and not just concert stills. There is a reasonable amount of text for a book of this style and all of it is interesting.

Good book, and very nicely made with thick pages and a nice velvet case
I loved it. Yes, its mostly about the 80s stuff, the revolution, and about 10% was about his upbringing, but it was the perfect book. I'm sorry, but I loved how Andrea skipped over the weird mid/late 90s mess which a lot of us grew up seeing 😂. I'm an 80s/90s baby and I was only 2 when Purple Rain came out, so I don't ever mind seeing the 80s Prince era. The 90s Prince was just too weird and all over the place. Gold and Emancipation were two of my fav Prince albums, but that era was a train wreck, then he got back on track when that 1st "marriage" ended and Musicology came out. The ending of the book was a touch of him before we lost him in 2016. Great job.
