Jack Daniel's Cookbook: Stories and Kitchen Secrets from Miss Mary Bobo's Boarding House

Great Book- Entertaining stories and Yummy Recipes.
I really enjoyed reading this cookbook. There are a lot of awesome southern recipes. The stories about the origin of Jack Daniels and Miss Bobos are very interesting. Made me want to visit soon. It was well worth getting and I am sure it will serve me well. I got it on my Kindle and I think I will also get a hard copy. I don't believe you can go wrong with this book. It is a keeper.

Not to miss Culinary and Cultural experience!!
I have eaten dinner as they call it in the south (not lunch) at Miss Mary Bobo's twice while in Lynchburg,Tennessee and the food is fabulous! I have also been fortunate to have Ms. Lynne Tolley, Jack Daniel's great-grand niece, as my table hostess on one of those occasions. It is Southern cooking and hospitality at it finest!! This book was a walk down memory lane of the time we spent enjoying Miss Mary Bobo's Boarding House. I recommend this book and all of it contents! I also own a signed copy, by Ms. Tolley, of Miss Mary Bobo's Boarding House Cook Book and a copy of Jack Daniel's Old Time BBQ Cookbook.

A MUST-HAVE for anyone wanting to eat like the real South.
If you've never been to the South, but want to know what we eat, this is it. When I went to Mrs. Mary Bobo's, I realized the food was just like the food on our table the whole time I was growing up in Alabama. It reads like a very interesting book, with some fascinating history about the area and Jack Daniel's Distillery. Even if you never use any of the recipes, it's a good read. I compared several of the recipes to my Mother's and they were almost exactly alike. If you did grow up in the south, but didn't write down your mother's recipes, you might find them here. I can't say enough about how much I like this book.

Good Southern comfort food at its finest
If you ever get to Middle Tennessee, make sure to stop in Lynchburg TN at the Jack Daniels distillery. This interesting and informative tour is free and good for the whole family. Jack Daniels and all the warehouses that store the whiskey are the financial backbone of this town. The small square is a treat to tour, but the best way to find out about Lynchburg is to dine at Ms. Mary Bobo's former boarding house. Reservations are normally needed, but be sure to call and see if there are any openings.Lunch is served family style at your table and there is a hostess who sits with you and answers your questions. The chicken is a small one and the pieces are not always recognizable but the food is good. Sit as close to the chicken as possible and be the first to pass it. The book contains lots of recipes of all kinds, many that employee a drop or two of Jack. Lynchburg is a dry county and does not sell alcohol, but workers used to be given a bottle as part of their pay. The food is old Southern comfort food at its finest.

Jack lover and cook
I received it when I was supposed to and as a man who loves Jack I had to have this book. It's nice because not every single recipe involves Jack Daniels but every single recipe in 100% pure southern cooking and I know southern cooking cuz I have family from Tennessee. I was originally going to order this from Jack Daniels' main website but I found it on here for less but I paid for same day shipping so it ended up being $2 more, Still a hell of a deal.

Room for improvement
I like reading the historical background however some of the actual recipes are missing steps and if you’re unfamiliar with the style of cooking you wouldn’t know what went wrong.

Order the Kndle vrsion and the paper version or you will never be able to read the book!
Amazon had a Kindle special. I read the description and ordered a used paper copy as a "gift" for a friend who gave me a bottle of original formula Jack for Christmas. My wife saw the book, started reading the stories and receipts, and decided to keep the book! I ordered another paper copy, and one of the ladies at the office took it to her desk. I got it back a couple of days later. Finally, I was able to give it to my friend.Since my wife and office worker took the book and read it, I never had a chance to really read through it. So . . . I ordered it for my Kindle. It is lovely on the Kindle (black & white Kindle, Kindle 7", and my new 10" Kindle. My recommendation: order the Kindle version and the paper version.
