A Profound Exploration of Personal Growth and Purpose
I had the privilege of reading "The Opposite is True" by Efren A. Delgado, a book that left me deeply inspired and introspective. From the very beginning, the endorsement by Philip Zimbardo, a distinguished figure in psychology and a Professor Emeritus at Stanford University, caught my attention. Zimbardo's description of the book as a "work of art" is an understatement - it's an enlightening journey that encourages readers to embrace their imperfections and transform their weaknesses into strengths.Efren's exploration of the human experience resonated with me on multiple levels. His insight that we have the power to convert our traumas into strengths through conscious and tactical efforts is a paradigm shift in thinking. This philosophy of actively using our experiences to fuel our journey towards proficiency is both empowering and motivating. However, what struck me the most was the emphasis on the importance of purpose. "The Opposite is True" brilliantly highlights how embracing our flaws is not only a path to self-improvement but also a way to define our purpose. Efren's guidance on mastering empathy, overcoming fear, and cultivating gratitude serves as a roadmap for not only transforming ourselves but also finding our true calling in the process."The Opposite is True" is more than just a self-help book; it's a masterfully written piece that takes complex psychological concepts and presents them in a relatable and engaging manner. Efren's ability to weave captivating real-life stories from his FBI experiences and blend them seamlessly with research from psychology, science, and literature is commendable. The result is a pleasurable read that not only educates but also touches the heart. As I delved into the pages of this book, I found myself reflecting on my own life, experiences, and aspirations. Efren's words serve as a guide for transforming our perceived weaknesses into sources of strength, while also emphasizing the role of purpose in this transformation. His encouragement to embrace our flaws and to discover our purpose is a refreshing departure from conventional wisdom. In conclusion, "The Opposite is True" is a profound exploration of personal growth, resilience, and the importance of purpose. Efren A. Delgado's writing transcends the boundaries of traditional self-help literature, offering readers a transformative perspective on life's challenges and a path to realizing their true potential. This book has left an indelible mark on me, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a deeper understanding of themselves, their potential, and their purpose.

Engaging, Vulnerable, and Insightful
The author hooks us with his own personal and vulnerable tale of being bullied as a child. He used his childhood challenges to catapult himself into a deep study of human psychology to answer the question "Why bad people choose to do evil over good?". Efren shares stories from both his own personal experience as an FBI agent and historical events. I resonate deeply with his main conclusion: "The bottom line to winning is this: You need to understand people, and the path toward doing that is refined empathy."I highly recommend this book.

Favorite read of the year. I’d give it 10 stars, if I could!
From the radical artistic cover, to the final line that will give you a welcomed chill, the Opposite is True was an emotional and intellectual journey. Do yourself a favor and do not skip ahead, but definitely read this book from start to finish. It’s Tony Robbins without the fluff, but with a gun and a ton of dramatic and sometimes funny stories! I caught myself forgiving myself (and others) for the same issues that make us all part of the human race.Delgado’s loyalty to reality and his ability to articulate how we could prioritize our lives to maximize our potential was personally moving. I’m excited! Now I can focus on what really matters, my big picture calling. Wonderful read!!

Nice Flow for sure on heavy topics
I’m a chiropractor and from a young age have been a super analytical and critical thinker sometimes to my detriment by getting stuck in my head. The book is helping to ground me in using these skills more appropriately. I like the topics covered because in my line of work, you have to be compassionate, empathetic but also provide results. This book is definitely “buttering me up” not to be eaten (lol) but to further expand my mind and insights of human behavior that will surely help me personally and professionally.“We need not live perfectly, nor riddled by guilt, but rather live inspired and motivated by excellence and gratitude.”What a great excerpt that I now look at daily when I get up and live life!
