I realize that there are a lot of very pricey stops out there made of superior materials. I didn't want to start out with a top-of-the-line strop, so I took a chance on this one. The hardware seems sturdy and not cheap like i expected. It is rather short compared to others I have seen. It came shipped in a long box (not folded like I have heard about similarly priced strops). The leather doesn't look as glassy smooth as other expensive strops, but after some practice on my fillet knife to get a feel for the technique, it sharpened up my straight razor with minimal effort. I'm sure with some oil and a break-in period, it will be a star performer. I definitely recommend this for the novice stropper or the budget conscious. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and bought another, it is better but there is still a chewed up line near the bottom of the suede side that will have to be avoided.
