Could someone tell me the width of the lead in this 520 pencil set? Can't find it anywhere in the description. Thank you!

I believe they are 3.0. They are the same as all Kalour colored pencil sets. These pencils are on the soft and silky side, similar to Castle and Black Widow color pencils, I Love them!

Are these the same core quality as the 300 set?

I've never seen the 300 set but these are high quality.

I have Kalour’s 240 and 300 sets. Do I need this one? Keeping in mind that I do have a touch of “full set syndrome.” Are there a lot of new shades?

THats a good question. I would have to say it would be a matter of opinion. I will say that the 520 set defiantly filled in the gap from some of those funk colors, 99, 17 the big ones and couple others. If you arrange them light I do light to dark, the colors flows better that the 300 set. I can say I also have that full set syndrome. for me I wish this set was out before I bought the 300 set, this set is an extension of the 300, 240, 180,120. I like them all pencils were accounted for this time, no duplicates this time.

Are these oil or wax pencils?

They're just normal colored pencils that are a couple steps up from your kids pencils
