I needed a large storage device for backups and large files to share among various computing devices. Once you get above a certain storage size (a couple of TB maybe), high-quality flash drives get quite expensive, so I opted for an old-fashioned external mechanical drive. I had originally purchased a different Seagate 8TB USB 3.0 external drive, but it did not come with a power pack and relied solely on power being supplied by the computing device. Several of our older devices could not provide this power, and even purchasing a powered USB hub didn't work, as many powered hubs can't supply both power and data on the same port. So, I ended up returning that drive and purchased this one. So far, it seems to be exactly what we needed as it comes with an 18-watt power pack that also surprisingly had about half a dozen power plug options that you snap in so you can use this pretty much anywhere in the world where they have AC power. The speed is what I would have expected for a USB 3.0 drive, as long as you plug it into a USB 3.0 port on your computing device.

Exactly what I needed, As expected, works straight away with my Windows 11 PC.
