I'm 5'3 and the XL is long enough that it does drag on the ground a little bit. I don't mind it, I can wear boots with it and be just fine. The top portion was a little too loose in the arms, but I guess if I gain more weight it'll allow some room for that. The pockets are excellent! I also wore a belt around my waist to hide the seam. It pulled the look of the dress together.The L fits great on the top, much more fitting and flattering. The skirt is too short by about 2 inches. It's like wearing floods. I plan on keeping both because I like having options. I like them so much, I will probably buy other patterns in the future.
