ihave whitfield pellet stove, the auger stopped working ..the model is 734 . will the motor work ?

If your motor is 1 rpm it should work fine, you can change the rotation of the motor if it turns the wrong way. not familiar with a model 734 is that the stove model or the auger motor? You can also disconnect the auger motor use a old extention cord with two 1/4 spade terminals and hook it up plug it into 110 and see if it turns. If it doesn't it s probably not the auger motor. Check so see if pellets are jammed in auger.

I see only two wires, which I assume are hot and neutral. Does it require a ground connection to the chassis?

No ground on the original it's not needed since it is connected to other connections that are grounded.
