Fun little kit, great for education and as a beginner into into all things fossil related.

This was a present for a fossil-mad 10 year old who was thrilled with the contents. A good variety of fossils, with a useful, clearly set out information booklet and (best of all it seems!) a tiny magnifying glass! Well-priced and packaged attractively with individual compartments in the box for each fossil. The fossils were not big but of adequate size for studying and learning about their origins.

I showed my eight year old great grandson my collection of fossils and this will be an excellent Christmas present for developing his interest and explaining how they are formed and found.

Comes in a solid cardboard box with 15 fossils, each in its own cell on a plastic tray. There's an ID card for the contents, and a basic magnifying glass. Fossils are about an inch across, and separated out of any rock matrix. Ammonites are good - the "polished" one is actually showing the original iridescent mother-of-pearl shell lining. The ray tooth, shark tooth and sea-lily stem are detailed and clear fossils. I reckon I have a couple of reptile or fish teeth, as they are rounder and lack the v-shape and more triangular cross-section of all the shark teeth I've seen. They're nice fossils too! The shells, nautiloids, gastropods and sponge fragment are poorer quality with less detail. The sea urchin took a lot of turning under the light to pick out the 5 ambulacral "petals". There's a second sea urchin that at first glance is just a lump, but under magnification in strong daylight clearly reveals ambulacra, the pores for tube feet and the tubercles (base of the spines) on the inter-ambulacral plates. The polished coral definitely needs the magnifying glass to see the detailed structure, otherwise it's just a polished pebble. No turritella agate was included. My only complaint: Even if space is short, naming each fossil and linking to a web page would draw out so much more information. Fifteen 1-2 inch long fossils for £15 is pretty decent value, and I'm very happy with this set. Several of the fossils are very nice and real conversation starters!

Bought as a present, my grandson has had hours if fun , and is extremely pleased with his present.very educational, fun for kids , looks great

This little fossil set is ideal, for a stocking filler Christmas present, for my 9 year old Grandson. He loves looking for fossils, on our local beach in Suffolk, and this set will expand his horizons and knowledge. The information booklet included is an added bonus. The set was well packaged and arrived with no damage to the contents. I would not hesitate to buy from this seller again.
