Gives me an enormous piece of mind. Easy to move around
Really good quality camera. Easy to connect. easy to set up. You don't necessarily need a subscription for live viewing but I chose to get the subscription so I can look back on recorded events. The subscription is pretty cheap in my opinion because it gives me peace of mind. I got the camera on sale. It was a great price when it was on sale but even full price. It's worth the peace of mind..... I purchased a two pack so it helps me keep an eye on my dogs when I'm not home and when I am walking around the block with the dogs it helps me keep an eye on my son. The motion detection is my favorite feature of these cameras because it gives me peace of mind when I'm on vacation. The batteries are interchangeable with the outside Bell as well so it helps with rotating through the chargers. I purchased a two battery charging dock two extra batteries so I always have something fully charged and that helps a lot. There is also a spot in the back of the unit underneath a rubber stopper that allows you to plug in a wire so you can run it to an outlet if you need. I have a waterproof one so if I wanted to mount it outside my window with the wire running in I could. I love the fact that the wireless ones give me the freedom to move them wherever I want whenever I want, but also the option to add a wire if I needed to. It also has a whole bunch of options for mounting, but you don't necessarily need to mount it. Overall it's a great item.

Read this if you're having connection or audio/video/notification difficulties ***UPDATED at end***
Before I start my revised review, let me state that there's been a lot of news lately about people hacking into Ring cameras, but this only happens when someone installs a new camera and doesn't update the default username and password (or has an extremely weak password which is easy for a hacker to guess). This is like leaving your front door open while on vacation. Your camera is sending and receiving signals over a wireless network. Anyone within range of the signal can potentially be a threat if you don't have good encryption (username and good password) set up on your camera. There's no logical reason for a Ring owner to not do this. Ring even stresses changing the default settings during the initial setup process. Bottom line, don't blame the car manufacturer if you leave the keys in your car and it gets stolen. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Recently, I wrote a rather scathing 1 star review about the problems I was having with my new Ring Stick Up Wireless Battery Cam. I'm no stranger to wireless cams, having 10 hooked up and running seamlessly on another network as I write this, but I was totally frustrated with the connection reliability, not only with my two upper end cellphones, but also on my Galaxy Tab and Amazon Show. More times than not, the software wouldn't connect with the camera but when it did, the video was choppy. Notifications were also hit and miss. I have a great wireless mesh router system throughout the house, so after doing all the troubleshooting I could think of, I assumed it was due to faulty hardware or software. I gave up and started the return process through Amazon. It was a new product after all and new products sometimes are really buggy. Plus, I read other negative reviews which seemed to justify my thoughts and actions. Then I got an email from a gentleman from Ring saying he read my review and asked if I'd be willing to let him help troubleshoot my issues with me. Although I had already started the return process, I was willing. It was refreshing to know Ring Customer Service was genuinely interested in troubleshooting possible defects in their newest product. Together, we isolated the issue within about 20 minutes. It turned out it wasn't the camera or software after all. Anyone having connection issues should do what he advised me to do. Open up the Ring app and click on the 3 little dots to the upper right of the camera screenshot, then select settings. From there go to Device Health and check the signal strength. Although I had a good mesh hub (inside) within 10 feet of my camera (mounted outside), my signal strength was RSSI -64. He stated that the signal was so weak it was on the cusp of what is needed for the camera to even minimally operate. This prompted me to reboot my wireless mesh system and reset/reconnect the camera. When it came back online, my signal strength went to -39, a vast improvement. A quick check of all of my devices showed the camera and software working flawlessly. Hat's off to Ring. Anyone who may be having connection or audio/video/notification difficulties, check your signal strength to the camera via the Ring software, even if your router is close by. You just might be surprised. ***UPDATE*** Camera (and software) is still working flawlessly on all devices. Ring has now updated their Windows 10 desktop app (which previously didn't work with the new wireless battery cams) and it works flawlessly as well. Observations. Notifications on my phone, Tab and Amazon devices (Show, Echo, Dot) are almost instantaneous. Alexa says "Someone is at your front door." Very cool. I bought an extra battery, but it looks like it'll be at least a few months before I need to swap it out, even with the intensive testing I've done on the Stick Up Cam. Battery life seems excellent. I have one zone blocked out and that seems to work fine as well. I also have it mounted a couple of feet above and to the left of my front door, tilting downward at an angle. Even though residential traffic is visible in the field of view, I've not gotten one trigger due to street activity. The motion sensor is triggered by anything coming into the bottom half of it's field of view. From the time someone triggers the motion sensor until the time I'm aware of it is 1-2 seconds. That's about as close to real time as you can get. It's not given me a false alarm even once. Telling my Amazon Show to "(Alexa), show front door cam" takes about 5 seconds to complete. I can also watch triggered video clips and get a live feed while away from home without any extra setup to my network. It's totally automatic. Because of the customer service I received from Ring and the fact the product is much better than I originally thought, I will be expanding my Ring family soon.

Zero Integration with Ring Alarm
I have a much better security camera system for my home's exterior but thought I might try one of these cams indoors since I have the Ring alarm system and a Ring Doorbell already. I made the silly mistake, I guess, of assuming there would be some kind of integration with other Ring products - there isn't. None. Not a single thing. It seems like common sense to me that they'd integrate in a couple of ways. I assumed that I'd be able to tell these cameras to only sense motion if the alarm was armed. Nope. I figured I could at least set it to detect motion when I wasn't in the house. Nope. There isn't even any kind of proximity setting for it to even know if you're home or not. They are not location aware in any way. The Ring alarm system isn't either, so I suppose I should have known better already. I also assumed that if my Ring alarm went off the cameras would automatically come on and start recording. Nope! The only motion option at all is to not alert you to motion during specific hours. Note, this doesn't stop motion detection during these hours, it only stops the alerts. Motion detection/recording is only an on or off thing... absolutely no options whatsoever. Annoyed by the lack of integration I still mounted the camera in my great room. I figured I try it for a few days and see how long the battery would actually last with motion recording on. This is a high traffic area so I wasn't holding my breath... and sure enough, after not even 1 full day the battery is down to 80%. This is with all the 'battery saving options' on. This was only a test as I don't actually want recording of any kind going on in my house while I'm home unless the alarm is armed or going off. With absolutely no options, no integration with Ring alarm and no settings to limit it's recording this thing is really only good for one thing; on demand video with no automatic recording. So, the thing is turned off now, doing nothing. I can still activate it from my phone to occasionally check my house isn't burning down. Hopefully someday Ring will update the software and provide some common sense integration with it's other devices. This is all a shame as the build of the camera is quite good considering the low price as is the video quality. The audio isn't great but it never is on cameras of any kind. ***UPDATE*** Ring support reached out to me directly almost immediately after I posted my review (Good on them) and told me how to link the Alarm, somewhat, to the camera. You have to go into your Base Station settings, then linked devices, then you can set the cameras to record when the alarm goes off - but only then. Make sure you have the updated app that just came out to do this. I didn't. Again, the setting is in your base station, not in the cameras. This solved probably the biggest issue I had with the camera. The rest of my review is still accurate though per Ring support. Hopefully they'll add the other much needed features in the near future. ***ANOTHER UPDATE*** From Ring Support: "The Modes feature will be released in November and will allow you to have the option to record motion only if the Ring Alarm System is set to Away Mode". This will be a great update and should have been available on launch. I wonder if they are only just now thinking of it from all the negative feedback and reviews, but glad it's 'coming soon' either way. ***ONE MORE UPDATE*** Ring provided me early access to the 'Modes Feature' and I've been using it for the past few days. It resolves all the issues I had with the alarm integration. With modes you can set your cameras to only record when your alarm is set. They can all be set independently and act differently depending on if you have your alarm set to off, home, or away. For instance, you can set your exterior cameras to record when your alarm is set to home mode, but have your interior cameras are turned off. You can set your interior cameras to only record while in away mode, etc. etc. Or any combination. The cameras can now be set the same way motion and door sensors can. This is a great improvement. They haven't told me exactly when this feature will be made public but have said it will be released 'by the end of the year'. I've increased the rating from 3 stars to 5. This software update really has resolved every issue I had with the cameras. I've now ordered and installed an additional 6 for my home. ***LAST UPDATE*** Having the modes features and my cameras set to only pop on and record during an alarm event (which is rare) and be off at all other times, I've had 2 months to evaluate battery life, almost exactly 60 days now. All my cameras were down to below 10% battery level when I checked them last night. Given the rate of battery drain I had expected them to last 3 months - though 2+ still isn't bad. I have two external cameras on my entry gates outside with the solar panel add-on, they stay fully charged at all times even though it's pretty much been non-stop dark and cloudy days here since installation. They are set to record all motion and since they point at a street they record events dozens of times per day... so if you're thinking of getting the solar panels for outdoor use, I highly recommend them.

Great cameras
I love these cameras. I mounted them outside in 3 spots. As all other ring battery devices, the battery life depends on your sensitivity settings - the more sensitive, the faster you run through the battery. The image quality is great, these are easy to install and set up, the app is easy to use. I do have an issue with being able to set up motion detection zones for the full camera view, it cuts off about 10-20% of the camera view that you’d be able to use for a motion zone. Night vision is just as good as the day. Other than that, no complaints.

pretty good ( i think getting the plug in cameras would make it great)
so I have 5 of these cameras. 3 at my current home and 2 at a rental. they are super easy to set up. the batteries (even though they take super long to charge 4-6 hours) last a very long time! my cameras can go 45 days if not longer before needing a recharge. my only cons are this these kind that use the battery ; only record when motion is detected (now if you buy the plug in style they record 24-7} . I have a ring camera. and i have 2 cameras on the side of my house and one over my back door. so if there is no motion detected nothing is recorded. and i just think the motion detection on the outdoor cams aren't as good as the ring camera. while adding this post. its currently 1pm and I just came home and parked my van on the side of my house (got 2 cameras there). just checked both. one hasn't recorded anything since 3pm yesterday. the other did record me moving the trash can about 3 hours prior. but neither one recorded me leaving my house and driving off in my van (and returning) less than an hour ago. I live in the city and my hood is quiet. but not "no action is 12 hours kind of quiet". i just don't think the motion detectors pick up things like they should. another con I noticed and the reason I made this review is. I think baking in the sun for so long can cause maybe shrinkage to a camera, then making removing the battery to recharge a pain. usually if you simply un screw the bottom of the cam, it pops off and press the button on the camera and it slides out like butter. but one of my cam's here (and just noticed the same thing for a cam at my other place) the battery was impossible to pull out by hand. I would need a pair of pliers to remove it from the camera. after a few months of being used , the one at my house was a pain to get the battery out (again only 1 out of 3, the other 2 never had the issue) . so I just bought a replacement one. no issue. but I just came back from my rental property and one of the cam's the battery is starting to stick. had to take it back home and remove it as I didn't have a pair of pliers on me. not saying its a deal breaker. but can be annoying. and these things aren't cheap (the indoor cams are) so everyone might not have an extra $80 to replace a cam if the battery starts to get stuck in there. again the cam at my house I replaced I could BARELY get it out with pliers it was getting stuck so bad. but the cam at the rental, slide right out using pliers. so its not bad, but hoping it doesn't get as bad as my other cam. BUT they still are a great deterrent as most thieves aren't going to want to break into a place with obvious multiple cameras facing them. I got a couple more rentals in the works but I think I may go with the plug in style I think the battery style cams are easier to set up. cheaper as well (that's if you would have to pay someone if you cant install the wired in camera yourself) and the battery life in my case last 6 + weeks easily. so your not charging them every week. only cons motion detectors not being great and possible camera shrinkage causing the battery to be a pain in removing for some cameras. so in total i bought 6 of these and 2 of them seem to have the shrinkage issue

Good picture but it takes a long time to recharge the battery
Had one in the front for many years and decided to get one for the back yard. I like it and it is crystal clear, the notifications are spot on. The only thing I do not like is that I have to recharge the battery depending on how often it is used, but about once a month. It takes most of the day to recharge.

Great Camera for the Price — Still Learning All the Features
I’ve only had this Ring Outdoor Cam for about two weeks, but so far I’m really happy with it, especially for the sale price I paid. I ordered it on July 24th (my birthday 🎂), and it arrived August 4th. It was the last item from my order to arrive, so shipping took longer than expected. Setup was fairly easy, and the Ring app makes it simple to view Live View, check motion events, and adjust settings. There are a lot of features, so I’m still learning what everything does. I did purchase a separate mount because the original positioning wasn’t giving me the view I wanted. Since it’s mounted outside my apartment’s front door, getting the right angle is important. I still wish I could get a slightly better view, but the camera itself feels well-made and sturdy. Since I’ve only had it for two weeks, I can’t speak to long-term durability yet. I really like the motion detection and the descriptions that come with the alerts. They’re usually pretty accurate and help me understand what triggered the motion. The camera can be pretty sensitive and has even picked up my neighbor from the apartment next door passing by. I also like the night vision and being able to check what’s happening outside after dark. The app is easy to use overall, and I especially like being able to review motion events. One thing I’ve noticed is that I seem to get motion alerts on my Echo Show 5 more consistently than on my phone. Sometimes the phone notification is delayed, although that could possibly be related to my Wi-Fi or notification settings. The Echo Show has been great for letting me know when someone is approaching my door. The audio works, including two-way talk, but I do wish it were clearer. Even when someone is talking near my front door, I sometimes have trouble understanding exactly what was said. I’m still using the free trial and learning which features I actually need, and I haven’t had it long enough to know how often I’ll need to charge the battery. Overall, I think it was totally worth the sale price. It gives me extra peace of mind, has good video quality, useful motion descriptions, an easy-to-use app, and plenty of features. There are a few things I’d improve, especially the audio clarity and viewing angle, but so far I’m very happy with my purchase.

Good devices for price, movement detection too sensitive close, not sensitive enough further afield
Summary: Great devices, good quality video, easy to setup and help keep the family feeling secure. I have 5 of these around my home and even two at a remote rural property. They keep me well informed of whats happening and help keep the family feeling safe, especially when I am not there. Pros: Easy setup Quality image and audio Good wide coverage Cons: I find that the movement detection even when in shot is limited, not seeing movement further from the camera, this is critical at my rural property as most movement happens at more than 10m from the camera which doesn't seem to trigger even though its in the alert area - Subscription plan

Easy to install and reliable outdoor camera with solid performance
I added this Stick Up Cam to our home security setup and overall it has been a good experience. Installation was straightforward since it’s battery powered and doesn’t require wiring, so I could place it where I needed without fuss. Once connected to the Ring app it paired quickly and I was able to customise motion zones and alert preferences right away. The video quality is clear and captures enough detail to see people and activity around the house day and night. Motion alerts come through reliably to my phone, and the live view feature lets me check what’s happening right when I want. I’ve found the two-way talk feature useful as well when someone is at the door or in the yard. Battery life seems decent. I haven’t had to charge it too often with normal daily motion activity, though heavy use or frequent motion alerts will mean recharging sooner rather than later, which seems typical for battery-powered cameras of this kind. One thing to be aware of is that to get full video history and some advanced features you need a Ring subscription. Without it you still get real-time alerts and live view, but clips aren’t stored unless you sign up for a plan. Overall this camera gives me peace of mind with easy setup, good coverage and dependable alerts. It’s a solid choice for anyone who wants a flexible outdoor camera without the hassle of wires.
