Keyless Mechanical Combination Door Lock Digital Code Keypad Security Entry Door Stainless Steel 304 Not Deadbolt (Only for The Left Handed Door Opens Inward) … (Right Handle)

After much deliberation I decided what I want is a code at the door handle and a deadbolt (that I rekeyed to match others on the property), so I can give the code to guests and kids, while having the ability to securely lock the doors with a bolt while traveling. Someone would make a fortune by designing a mechanical combination door handle that fits within the holes of a standard double bore door, but until that happens, this works very well. The lock is excellent quality. It feels extremely durable in hand and after inspecting the components, pretty much all of it is solid metal and built to last. Here’s what I did: Moved the bolt hole up 4-3/4” using a drill template for making doorhandle holes. You can get these at a local hardware store. Mine came with a drill bit that fits in a little router-type template for recessing the strike plates. Used the provided templates to mark where the 3/8” holes should be, using the existing doorhandle opening as the center, so the handle would land at the same height. Drilled holes with a 3/8” metal bit (because my doors are metal). If you’re not sure about your doors, try holding a magnet to them. A lot of doors now are fiberglass which is much easier to drill. I used a sawsall to make the openings that were close to the pre-existing hole because why bother drilling in a finicky location if you don’t have to. Then I put the doorhandle in place to make sure the holes were right and noted the area where the old holes wouldn't be covered. I filled in those areas with some wood putty. Sanded and spray painted the putty to match the door and then just screwed the handle in like any handle. Some reviews mentioned locksmiths complaining about this install. I’m not a locksmith, I’m a 46 year old mom, but it doesn’t seem so crazy to have to move a couple of holes. Once installed, this set is super nice, and you can’t beat it for the price. I have two of them installed in different places already. .

This is a great product, no batteries to worry about. The code changing process was very simple and can be easily changed in the future... Only drawback that I wasn't really thinking about was when you are drilling the holes in your door, take your time and make sure the holes are perfectly aligned, perpendicular and plumb to the door. If they are not, you'll have to do a little finagling to get the back and front panel to align with the bolts. It's not a major issue, I kinda rushed it, but it would be worth it to use a center punch to mark the holes before you drill and have another person looking at your drill position while you are drilling. Great product!

I love the idea of this mechanical lock. The design is sound. The only issue is that the latch bolt they supply will not resist being shimmed by a credit card. Fortunately it is compatible with the existing latch bolt I had in my exterior door. The better kwikset/schlage latch bolt has that little pin that prevents the latch from being shimmed open when the door is shut. With that one modification this a great little lock. I may put it on other exterior doors in my house after I test drive this one for a while longer.

This don’t need batteries

We installed this on a mobile deer stand and it makes life so much easier. No more wondering if I dropped, lost or forget the key. Can be manipulated with gloves on which helps in outdoor applications. Tactile feel is very good and lock up is strong. We also installed this on an outswing door without any issues. Feels sturdy.

We have a autistic young adult and I’ve installed several of these in our home to keep him out of our personal rooms. He has a habit of getting into everything. These knobs are great. No batteries and I’ve never had one fail. They also add an extra level of security for when we’re not home. If someone was to break in these could possibly keep them out of our rooms or at least slow them down a little.

Simple and works great

Had a few problems with installation as the handle was facing the wrong direction and there wasn’t enough room for it between the wall but I disassembled and managed to reverse the handle and still put it back together and get it working with the handle facing the opposite direction. It’s a bit difficult telling the bronze color from the silver when setting the code so I had to rely on differentiating by the difference in design. Had to watch the you tube video a few times before figuring it all out but it just takes some patience. Edit) Unfortunately, I had to move so I took the mechanical lock with me and tried to install it in my new place and one of the barrels/cylinders is now stripped so I can’t install the last bolt for the faceplate and can’t seem to find one anywhere to buy. I’ve contacted the company and am hoping they can provide me with a new barrel so I can securely use this beloved mechanical lock again. It’s been two days and I’ve heard nothing back yet. I’m hoping I’ll hear from them soon.

I have many electronic push-button door locks and thought I'd try a mechanical one for my garage since the electronic I had there was acting up. Very glad I did. It's heavy-duty, well-made, and functions very smoothly. Note however that no digits in the combination you choose can be repeated - in fact the order of the digits you choose doesn't matter either since it works just by which buttons are depressed in the mechanism. Pulling the lever up will lock it (reset the buttons). Given enough time a potential intruder could try enough combinations of depressed buttons to crack this, so not quite as secure as the electronic ones. If you don't mind being easier to crack, the lock itself is superior in craftsmanship and ease of use than similarly priced electronic alternatives.

Okay, for this sort of product I like to write a review after it’s been installed and gone through a few winters at -35C. I can honestly say this door knob/lock is flawless! The only thing I would recommend is if you get someone to install it, make sure they read the instructions! And I mean stand over them and make sure they have read everything. My installer was, I’m sorry to say, the typical trades guy (in my experience) who ignores instructions and believes he knows how to handle everything… He wrecked the first door and we had to order a new one. Love this for my garage man door! You will not be disappointed!
