Despite some build quality issues, it printed great right out of the box!
Creality consistency and build quality is hit and miss, but with this sort of machine you sort of have to be an enthusiast and willing to dive in and take it apart a few times. I've been messing with 3d printers for about 10 years and am actually pleasantly surprised with this one. It shipped almost fully assembled and was easy to set up, frame is reasonably square and all the connectors / cables are well protected and routed out of the way. The setup was slightly marred by Creality's cloud server not being found for the first day or two (ended up being able to connect it the second day). During the initial self test the bed was tilted off by about 1.2mm from diagonal corner to corner and did not have a straightforward manual leveling system. It was reasonably flat despite not being level, although not to the standard of my other printers so I expected bad first layers / prints. The auto-leveling is actually only automatic compensation based on the bed height readings, but it works shockingly well on this machine. I was able to get a nearly perfect benchy print from the built-in model in about 13 minutes. This printer is FAST and the print quality is excellent so far with the Creality Slicer built in profiles. I'm still working on shims / adjustment of the bed mounts to level it better and some minor upgrades (lighting mostly and a textured build plate) but so far there's very little that needs to be done for this to be put into use straight away.

Great printer but no support
This is my first 3D printer and I would definitely say I love the hobby. This printer is fast and big. I’ve printer over 100 prints since getting this last month with only a handful of failures. I have had 2 clogs and the camera stopped working. This wouldn’t be that bad but it is impossible to get a hold of Creality for support. I’ve called and emailed but no dice, if not for the Reddit community this would’ve become a large paperweight. Because of this I can’t give this printer a high score

Printing in 20 minutes, flawless. Excellent printer if these specs are what you are after.
The Reality K1 Max is an outstanding 3D printer that delivers speed, precision, and reliability. The Core XY motion system ensures smooth, fast prints, while the AI-assisted features, like auto-bed leveling and a built-in camera, make setup and monitoring effortless. I was up and running in 20 minutes, and the video feed is outstanding. The large print volume (300x300x300mm) is great for big projects, and the enclosed design helps maintain print quality. If you want a hassle-free, high-speed printer with excellent results, the K1 Max is a fantastic choice. At this price, it is probably one of the best printers you can get, if the single filament and large build volume are what you are after.

nothing but problems
Disappointed with the Creality K1 Max – Not Worth the Hype I had high expectations for the Creality K1 Max, but after several weeks of frustration, I regret my purchase. While it promises high-speed printing and a large build volume, the execution is seriously flawed. 1. Quality Control Issues – Right out of the box, I encountered multiple problems. The auto-bed leveling was inconsistent, leading to frequent print failures. The extruder also started clogging within the first few prints, requiring constant troubleshooting. 2. Poor Software & Connectivity – The printer’s software feels unpolished. The Creality Cloud is slow and buggy, often failing to send prints correctly. Wi-Fi connectivity is unreliable, forcing me to rely on a USB stick to transfer files. 3. Overheating & Fan Noise – This printer runs extremely loud due to its high-speed printing, and the cooling fans don’t seem efficient enough. Overheating issues have led to warped prints, even when using recommended settings. 4. False "Out of the Box" Functionality – Despite being advertised as "plug and play," I had to spend hours fine-tuning settings, adjusting belts, and updating firmware just to get halfway decent prints. A beginner would be completely lost with this printer. 5. Customer Support is Useless – Creality’s support is slow to respond, and when they do, they often provide vague or unhelpful advice. If you get a defective unit, good luck getting a replacement or refund. Overall, for the price, the K1 Max is not worth it. There are better options from Bambu Lab or Prusa that offer more reliability and a smoother experience. If you’re looking for a hassle-free 3D printer, this is NOT it

Excellent
Okay, I normally don't go out of my way to spend the time reviewing products but this one deserves my time. I'm a mechanical design engineer that makes many prototype parts. I bought this printer to avoid expensive prototyping. I'm absolutely pleased with the quality of the prints and can't believe how good nylon cf prints. I had to adjust my tolerances as the final print diameters were smaller by 0.005 due to the characteristics of nylon CF but after that it's been fantastic and makes my work fun again. I printed a part that had a 3/8" "pressed" in shaft and I had to beat it in with a hard rubber mallet and the print held up like a champ. Pinter quality is excellent. Easy to start up. Slicer software is fine and intuitive. Printer is a great deal and you can see that creality has spent a great deal of time designing a product that is high quality and a fair price. I'm very satisfied.

3rd times a charm? Have to see.
Edit: The new Max is doing better with Orcaslicer still can't get unicorn nozzles yet. I like: The strain gauge z level works MOST of the time.No paper. It will still bury the nozzle. It has a glass top that lifts off and glass front door that opens to the left held closed by a magnet. It keeps heat in as long as back fan is off but ASA still warps when you print 300x300x300 anything. Actually anything over 2in tall in ABS and ASA warped at the base. It has the best bed adhesion of any printer I've used in 7 yrs. No glue just straight to the plate. What I don't like: The back fan vents out so does your heat. The top ld lifts off so venting out is already taken care of. The fan should recirculate so VOCs get scrubbed and heat stays put. It APPEARS fast but 3d printers have been printing nik naks and benchmarks since the 1980s, yeah its been around that long. Printing functional parts like hinges and shelves takes a long time with ASA, copper, anything other than PLA which is useless outdoors or heavy use. Of course the benchy prints fast it came preloaded with the printer. Try 3rd party Torture prints, now your taking it for a spin. It's fast but barely ever broke past 100mm/s even though print speed was set at 600mm/s in 6 different slicers. The nozzle is old/new style? The extruder is old/new style. Nobody knows and you will receive at random. The nozzles included in the bundle were too short. It's not an all metal hotend if there's a gap at the heat break and nozzle base. Leakage anyone? The first printer never left Chicago the second got to the state line then returned to Chicago and the 3rd we will have to see, it has not shipped yet. Apparently Chicago has moved without telling anyone. My experience with this order(s): The first printer stayed in Chicago and never left so I guess some illegal immigrants are living in it. I ordered a second since it takes over a week to travel 14hrs and that one got 2hrs away and went back to Chicago. Arrived a week later with damage to the box. UPS gets paid waaay too much for this. I get it the drivers make good money but the sorters are hitting the crack pipe. Only as good as your weakest link. The printer came in a bundle with nozzles that don't fit. The heat break has to fit flush or you get leakage and the nozzle change was a nightmare compared to my Sovol S07 plus and my old A8s. Back goes this one cause the breakout board on the extruder died so I guess she got tossed around more than the damage to the box indicated. I'll update my review IF. 1 the printer actually gets to our shop. 2 we randomly get one that works better than what we have now.

Great performing printer
Printer prints super high quality, only thing I would recommend is that you need to get a texture plate for the k1 max and the real unicorn nozzle if you plan on using carbon fiber for long periods of time. My nozzle went out in a day but I replaced it with the unicorn nozzle and had no issues since. I only print cf

It’s Ok, BUT…
Bought my son the Ender 3 some years ago. Learned what we needed to and then saw this guy. It seemed to have all the bells and whistles as well as thought out some of the nuances of manually leveling the bed, etc. ran it for some time. Lots of clogs and failed prints and no detection like it said it would. THEN a friend bought me the Bambu Labs P1S with the filament management module. For the same money it was a HUGE step up in quality of the actual product and the prints that came out of it from the start. Super clean prints from the Bambu Labs printer. If you’re looking for a hassle free 3D printing experience, go with Bambu Labs.
