Is this more tighter around the ear than the stock-pads of the HD 598sr?

It's not noticeably tighter at all. It would be hard to notice a difference in pressure but it is softer.

Would this work for HD 599 headphones?

yes" they will fit. almost all of the Sennheiser HD range are backwards compatible with each other, what fits the HD598, HD598SE, AND HD598CS, will also fit the HD599, as these are all modeled on the same design. here is another make that will fit....https://www.amazon.co.uk/kwmobile-Earpad-Compatible-Sennheiser-559-brown/dp/B08P1WCDVT/ref=sr_1_51?dchild=1&keywords=kwmobile+earpads&qid=1622229070&s=electronics&sr=1-51
