great kit
A very well designed and presented kit, much cheaper than any other Theremin on the market as far as I know, $19,995 cheaper than the original RCA Theremin and it works fine. Others have given it a low rating for 3 main reasons: the instructions are in German, it's a kit, and the case is cardboard, to which I'd say that you can translate the instructions using a translation site, learn how to solder using a Youtube video, and accept that the very well designed cardboard case does the job no bother :-)

SELF ASSEMBLY required for this Theremin!
BEWARE! This requires self assembly!! (which is apparently the meaning of "selber bauen" in German) It requires the use of a soldering iron, and the (very limited) instructions are only in German. I returned it because it wasn't what I wanted, it might be OK for other people as far as you're aware that you need to solder and if you're familiar with soldering electronics (no good diagrams). The box is carton but given the price that was something expected. Go for it only if you enjoy the assembly part!

Make sure your solder points are clean!
A big thanks to Steve Dwyer for his great breakdown of hitting the "sweet spot" in the tuning! Took about 5 minutes with a free chromatic tuner app but I hit it. Make sure also that your solder points are clean, with no wire strands touching other pads. I missed one between P1 and P2 and the battery started heating up! Luckily I caught it in time. You get what you pay for, but I have to say, cardboard "case" aside, this is good for what you pay. Booklet looks very interesting, if only I spoke German. Can't seem to find an English version booklet on the net.

... ages for a theramin for my friend I was delighted to find this for her
After searching for ages for a theramin for my friend I was delighted to find this for her. I proudly presented her with it for her birthday and was shocked but the serous lack of quality and unreadable instructions. For the price I am very embarrassed

Some wires had become detached from the circuit board upon unpacking (ie broken but can be fixed easily with soldering iron)
£44 for a cardboard with wood effect printing, and a circuit board. Needs assembly. Instructions in German. Some wires had become detached from the circuit board upon unpacking (ie broken but can be fixed easily with soldering iron). Quality does not match the cost.

Pretty good
Bought as a Christmas present. Not difficult to assemble with a bit of soldering. I"m now being driven mad with horrible theremin noises.

Theremin
A very elaborate manual is included, information about the history, how to play, and very clear step by step assembly instructions. However, the manual is in German only. I paid attention in school when I learned German, but I understand that many buyers will not be able to read the manual. The circuit diagram is very messy. The smaller components (chip, resistors, transistors) are already soldered on the PCB. Only a few capacitors and coils must be soldered in place. Easy for anyone who has some experience with electronics.. At first it appears to be a wonderfully polished wooden box - but it is only cardboard. There are three fake control knobs on the front, perhaps to deceive a buyer who sees a picture. Sound is produced by a built-in loudspeaker. There is no line jack for a connection to an amplifier. But of course such a jack may be added easily. What's the sound like? Well. it works. But I am afraid I will not be able to produce a nice tune. Nice to build. Nice to have. And then it goes to the attic or the flea market.
