Minwax is the better product. It penetrates deeper and strengthen the wood. I wood follow up with an exterior grade wood filler to fill any rotted out voids then carry on with your fasteners. **Q: how is it applied?** A: I am a fan. However there is no way it can be sprayed on. it's very thick and i can't comprehend it being in a spray bottle. Think honey or syrup. As a handyman profesional I love this. I just did 3 days doing roof trim repair that had rot and carpenter ant damage.
