The toy is sturdy; it takes many falls without breaking. The size is just right, even for little hands. I played with this before giving it to my great niece. I found the pen a little weak, making it difficult to get the pieces to move reliably. I made a new pen with stronger magnets on my 3D printer. It also had the benefit of being easier for little hands to grab because it was bigger. Otherwise I like the fact that kids can group by color or by shape. So learning can focus on two different aspects with the one toy.

I bought this for my grandson's 2 year birthday. It's sturdy, one sided, plexi-glass on one side to keep the shaped pieces from getting loose and lost. The wand is attached with a good string. This helps young one's learn to place pieces by either color coded or shape as well as help with their dexterity and motor skills. It can help with learning patience also.
