We are contemplating offering it in green as a compost bin. Out of curiosity, what color were you wanting? **Q: Does it hold water if used exclusively outdoors or does it have drainage?** A: I noticed that a little rain water will stand in the bottom. So I simply drilled a few small holes in the bottom...it drains now. Hopefully you can do the same. **Q: is the hanging part wide enough to hang over a cabinet door that is 3/4" thick?** A: Great question. Yes, it will easily fit on a 3/4" thick cabinet door, but unless you have clearance above the door, you won't be able to close the door all the way. Good news, however! The hanging wastebasket also has two "slots" on the clip. If you mount two screws into your cabinet door, the hanging wastebasket can slide onto those two screws. I use mine at home this way. It's a great way to collect kitchen scraps for composting without having a composter sitting on your counter. The lid keeps odors in. Note: For mounting a hanging wastebasket inside a cabinet door, the cabinet door should be at least 12" wide (which most are anyway).
