No. It was a thin strip of velcro that wasn't strong enough to hold very well.

Yes in fact it works better when wet! Was in Cancun wore it all the time and yes even in the pool

Q: What material is this made of? Also, does it grip the skin or have the potential to slide around?

It does not grip the skin. It does slide around a bit, but you can get another person to help you put it on tighter. The best thing I've found so far, is to use a couple of small strips of NexCare waterproof first-aid tape (available at any pharmacy or grocery store) to hold the sensor on my arm when I'm doing strenuous activity. Hope that helps!
