If auto unlock is must have and there's more than one person in your household, think twice
I got the u-bolt with built-in wifi (no fingerprint) because it has auto unlock, physical number pad, and physical key function. After installing and setting up the lock and granting all the permissions as directed, I just couldn't get the auto unlock function to work consistently. Calling the u-tec tech support was no use because no one ever picks up. Emailing them just ends in getting a standard response asking you to make sure bothtooth, wifi, and everything else is turned on like they're supposed to, or try taking out the batteries and putting them back int, etc., also pretty useless. So I tried various setting to see what works and what doesn't. This is what I figured out:1. if I disable wifi connection on the lock, meaning the lock can only communicate via bluetooth, then the auto unlock will work beautifully just about every time I walk up to the door (on the outside).2. if I am the only user listed in the app, then auto unlock will still work most of time even if wifi connection is enabled3. however, if I add another user into the app, whether at administrator level or normal user level, and wifi is enabled, then the auto unlock function will almost never work (maybe 1 out of 10 times). Even more concerning, a couple times after auto lock failed to work, I proceeded to unlock it via keypad, got inside, and locked it with the knob, then the door would unlock itself after about a minute. That said, this lock appears to be built solidly and responds fast whether it's voice control or via app, I just can't get auto unlock to work unless I'm willing to give up all other advertised smart functions. Bummer....Update (two weeks later): Within a few days, auto unlock failed to work even only when bluetooth was on. After trying two units with the same results / issues, I think it's safe the say the issue is their software, as there are also other (more minor) bugs, like notification related to auto unlock being displayed even when notification is turned off; or the manual override for location doesn't work properly. I decided to return this and purchased the Yale assure (wifi August version) instead and all functions work right out of the box the very first time. It just works!

Finicky app otherwise good
I installed two of these. Lock installation was relatively easy. Setup in the app was slow and took a few runs to get it working properly. I had to play with the lock, remove batteries and put them back in at just the right time for the lock to register on my phone through bluetooth. Once I passed that hurdle, the lock didn't want to accept my wifi credentials. I ended up closing the app, removing the batteries, and then trying it all over again with the same credentials. When I started everything up at the same time then moved through the steps quickly, it worked properly.Same problem with the 2nd installation but I got it immediately on the second try by restarting everything and going through the steps quickly. Oddly the first lock took the firmware update first try. The second I had to restart everything fresh for it to take the firmware update.Ultimately I got everything setup and working but I am software developer with a lot of IT experience. I suspect the average joe would have been beyond frustrated trying to get this all setup. The entire process could certainly use some time in a usability lab. I think UTec would find that enlightening.

best i can find
thought after three years of this tech we'd have it solidified, but guess not. this is the best one i could find. the one i used to have failed cause my wife liked kicked the door open and ended up bending the locking mechanism. i was going to replace it with the same, but i guess their QA dropped significantly over the years.this lock feels sturdy. their app is decent. the only downside is their wifi connection. it will not work if your wifi is using the same name for 5ghz and 2.4 ghz bands. this is a fault of whoever they bought their wifi chip from and is on the hardware level, so cannot patch it out. so frustrating since my mesh router cannot split the names up.i had to dig out my old router, name it the same as my new network, with the same password, broadcast it only on 2.4 ghz...then hookup my repeater since the signal wasn't strong enough at the door, then get the door on wifi long enough to just log in *once*. after that i was able to put my house back in order. so silly.this door has ifttt integration that is ok. it is however, very agressive to lock. when ifttt sends the unlock signal, you have about 2 seconds to open the door before it will lock on you again...sigh.with these annoyances, this is the best i could find. still overall satisfied with my purchase.

A quality wifi lock
I ordered/received this lock about a year ago. It was replacing a "well-known" brand that had nothing but issues. After installation, it worked (better than the replaced lock!) but seemed slow to respond. Looking at other users' comments, that seemed common and I could live with it. Move forward a year, and it started tearing through batteries in a week, then 5 days, 3 days, then everyday - finally stopped working at all. I contacted Ultraloq and they sent me new parts that not only fixed the problem with the battery usage, but also resulted in a MUCH increased wifi signal throughput. Adding a user went from 1-2 minutes (marginally useful) to 2-3 seconds with no change in the wifi configuration. It's a joy to work with a company that not only stands behind their product but is proactive in solving any problems that occur.

Wifi Smart warning does not work without additional part
The lock itself works well, although changing from an old bolt/lock model we did have to use a metal drill to adjust the height of the lock in fitting to the door frame. However, it will work better with the addition of the door sensor for auto lock. Otherwise, it locks after the set time count like the U-bolt pro model. A couple small malfunctioning times but overall able to auto lock in one go.

Customer service was excellent
The Lock is well made and has clean install instructions. When I first tried to install the door the lock did not work. I called customer service and there were very diligent at resolving my issues. After feeling so frustrated I honestly didn’t expect such excellent customer service. They sent out a part which didn’t resolved the issue, but then sent out another part which did, and they rush delivered it. The lock works great now and I would recommend it.

Love it but …
I do love being able to ask Alexa if my door is locked, however sometimes she says she will check and then it’s like she goes and makes a sandwich or something instead. When I ask the second time, she does answer me. Lol. I wasn’t all that pleased with the thumb print feature at first, however I’ve learned to wipe the reader quickly and apply a firm press of the thumb and it usually works. If I’ve eaten a lot of salt or worked in the garden, then it isn’t always as responsive. I’ve also found that the Auto Unlock feature is a bit hit and miss. The auto lock pretty much always locks without issue. I do love the added security of knowing I can use the power cord from my phone to the lock if the batteries were ever completely dead. Also, having a hard key to open the lock just in case is all the extra reassurance I need. It’s a good lock with a few quirks that take getting used to.

Unstable wifi connection, software needed improvement
New update: after half year, I realized that these lock wifi and Bluetooth features are rarely being used by myself and family. Because the time it takes the Bluetooth to connect is so long. Taking out the key or using the keypad proved to be much faster. Not to say that the Bluetooth and wifi both failed to connect more than 50% of the time. A total waste of money and time with this product.2nd old review: eventually tech support came back to me and decided that the motor might be faulty. They sent me a replacement that is of a lower grade model. It was then that I realized the batteries became insufficient to power the motor, while the app displayed the battery as high and can perform all other function properly. So the fault is at the software side, if the battery is not enough to power the motor, then the battery should be changed. It should be indicated it as battery power high.Old Review: I got two of these two months ago. And I already notice that the wifi connection is weak while every smart thing at home even placed further away has better connection. Checking for the status of the lock is rarely working, as I can’t connect to them via wifi most of the time.I wanted to use this to open the lock through Bluetooth, but the responsiveness of such connection is slow. We ended up using the keypads instead. The worst is how two months of usage and suddenly the lock no longer auto lock, the electronic part and software parts worked fine. It signaled the lock to lock when left unlock or being signaled to lock by phone, or to unlock by the keypad. However, the lock system does not tell the lock to turn. I tried resetting to factory default and still failed. I tried reaching out the technical support but got ignored. Now it is a normal lock that needed a key to open with wifi status checking that rarely work, and far too expensive.
