Impressive
Bought for problems with pet hair, even though he's a short-haired dog, the amount he seems to shed, you'd think he was an Afghan. Like other reviewers have mentioned, the first time I used it, I was shocked at the amount of hair and dirt it picked up, despite having regularly used a Hoover previously. Great to use on the stairs with the Lift Away function, made the job much easier than having to balance the whole Hoover with my leg, like a circus act. The pet hair extension does the work, so you just pass it over the stairs, turning suction up when you need it, instead of breaking your back like you're having to scrub the carpet. Something I noticed immediately after the first vacuum was how clean the air seemed. I've been used to the Hoover which (like other vacuums I've had) belched out air and dust through the front filter. I checked the filter after first use (recommended to clean at least every 3 months) and the dirt it trapped was shocking! Really easy to clean, just rinse through and leave to air dry, then put it back. You have to assemble the parts out of the box, very easy to do, everything snaps together. Cleaning filter is simple, as is emptying the container. You also have easy access to the brushroller and you can take it out to remove long hair before it becomes an issue. I found it a strange feeling on first use, but soon got used to it. I've been used to having to shove a vacuum in a straight line, forwards and backwards. The Shark is very sensitive in its movement and is designed to swivel and turn easily. So if you push it like a normal vacuum, it tends to fly off a bit. The trick seems to be to gently push it and it really does the work for you. No more back breaking! Suction is easy adjust as you go along, until you get the right level for the carpet. Too much and it will feel hard to push. The suction really does work! Really pleased with it and I'm now a Shark convert. Great value for money and it really does do what it claims. You'll be stunned at how much crap it picks up the first time you use it and pet owners will find it a dream.

In one word, amazing!!
You certainly get what you pay for with this hoover. It's just brilliant. I've gone through my fair share of dyson's and other brands, and I can safely say I will never look back. This machine is a 10/10 across the board. I have a black flat-coated retriever dog, who moults, and with a cream carpeted house, I needed a decent hoover. This shark went above and beyond. The assembly was simple and easy to understand with a picture guide. Took no longer than 5 minutes, including opening the box and unwrapping each item from it's packaging. The hoover itself was surprisingly light, and glided around the house with ease. After only running the shark over one stretch of carpet, it was visibly a different colour. Not only did it pick up the hair, but an alarming amount of dust. The only word of warning I would offer is to pick up all cables (phone chargers), loose items, etc, as this hoover is so powerful it will catch hold of anything. Although, when this did happen to my phone charger, it got wound up in the rotating brush inside the hoover and then a redlight came on, alerting me that there was a blockage. Thoroughly impressed.

Huge Improvement on the last Vacuum I had!
Early days yet but quite impressed with this new vacuum cleaner. We had an ageing Dyson Slim model and decided to buy this one as was on a discount at Amazon ( £ 145). Pros: Well packed. Easy to assemble and set up in 5 mins. Its quite powerful and sucked up a lot of the residual dirt left behind after just used the Dyson. The suction provided by the attachments is quite strong and cleans the gaps between the steps and the tread areas quite well. We don't have a pet; however the attachment for it does the steps quite well. The dust collector is easy to empty. Relatively silent performance Moves around smoothly on middle level suction. The lift away concept is good as it allows you to use the vacuum nicely on the steps and when you are cleaning the car. The head-lights are a bit of a gimmick- but I guess if you are hoovering in the dark it gives you a different perspective! Cons: The adjustments you have to make ( switch) when you go from hard to carpet floors . This was automatic with my earlier model. It would have been nice to have a reassuring click when you fix on the attachments as they slide on and you assume they are fixed. You have to use hard floor setting for the attachments and adjust the vacuum intensity for different carpet lengths/ how dirty they are. It means you have to be quite actively involved with the process! The dust collector fills quickly so you need to empty more often! Overall I feel content with the purchase. I would recommend this vacuum highly especially if you are able to get it at a competitive price.

Possibly the best vacuum you can buy
About 6 years ago, I bought a Shark vacuum and was mightily impressed. Unfortunately, the motor burnt out after 5 years so I bought a replacement different brand (the brand that has given its name to the vacuum cleaner). What a disappointment. Admittedly the other vacuum was cheap but it was really bad. So, after 9 months of putting up with it I bought this Shark which was on special offer on Amazon. Let me tell you, it is absolutely amazing. The suction is so strong that it actually sucked up the carpet off the floor in one room. The great thing about this is that you can manually adjust the suction power from the handle which is very useful. When I bought the last Shark, it came with a little attachment with its own spinning brush and was sold as a stair cleaning attachment. This new Shark was sold with an attachment for getting up pet hair. Lo and behold, it was exactly the same attachment. So, if you are looking for something to clean pet hair and do the stairs as well, this one is for you. It's a very versatile vacuum with the lift-away facility whereby you can simply pick up the main body of the machine and leave the base and wheels behind to reduce the weight of what you are carrying whilst doing say the stairs. I'm also impressed with the improvements etc that Shark have made between my last Shark and this one. For example, you can now press a little button on the top of the vacuum and get easy access to the roller brush for cleaning it or removing wrapped around cotton etc. You can also lift the roller brush right out if it makes cleaning it any easier. An amazing vacuum for the price. And, if you register online, you get a five year guarantee.

Best hoover I’ve bought in 35 yrs
I’m one of those people who doesn’t really leave reviews. But I’m so impressed with this machine. I’ve been a Dyson owner for about 10 years. My 3 year old Dyson wasn’t performing as well, wasn’t picking up as well. And despite cleaning etc.. it didn’t improve. So I was on the hunt for a new hoover. I saw the reviews for this Shark hoover and liked the ‘lower than a Dyson price’. I’ve used this on the whole house already. Fantastic performance. We have a dog and it’s fab on pet hair. The LiftWay makes stairs SO easy compared to my old machine, as I was either lugging it up stairs or stretching the hose to a risky point. No such issue with this liftaway function. The Shark is great on carpet and hard floors, just a flick of the switch. Also it has suction control, maximum or minimum so if you have deep pile carpets and it’s a bit of a push to glide the hoover over, you can just adjust the suction. After cleaning my whole house, the brush bar had hair around it. What I also find so great about this machine is the brush bar comes away from the machine with one click of a button, making it incredibly easy to de tangle very quickly and easily. It’s also very simple to empty the dust cylinder. It’s lighter than my old Dyson, and takes up less room in storage. I have to say this is the best, most cleverly designed hoover I’ve ever used in my 35 years or so of buying hoovers. There are no downsides to this machine. Everything on it is easy to use and I didn’t find anything fiddly about it. I’d give it ten stars if I could. Don’t hesitate, this one’s a genuine winner of a hoover. Congrats to the designers and makers of this machine!

Happy happy
Oh my what a machine I am in LOVE with the Shark. I am / was a Dyson queen and would only buy Dyson swore by Dyson, in my eyes Dyson WAS the best. So I bought a Dyson stick thing and could not hold in one hand and after one use of 40 minutes I had blistered hands, that one went back with in hours, I then when for a Gtech as I also love those bad boys, again I bought a stick style one as I have had 19 spinal surgeries and was finding the Dyson Animal hard work to use. Well after a few months the Gtech went back as this was causing me so much pain to hold again in one hand and control. So fast forward 3 vacumns and I have now jumped the Dyson shop and purchased this Shark and I could not be happier. The brush suction alone is to die for it is so powerful and a beast. Yes it takes a while to get used to but After 3 weeks I am so happy with the machine I would never ever go back to a Dyson again. Yes the tank thing that collects all of the bike dirt and grime from the carpets is smaller than most, but I would take a good suction and have to empty more often than a huge ta i with no suction. I have lifted away and hoovered the stairs and my god that was so easy and a dream to do, compare to lugging the hefty Dyson up and down the stairs and with my risk of falling (yes I have fallen top to bottom whilst hoovering with a Dyson and ended up in hospital) the Shark loft away was a doddle. It has some great basic attachments the super stairs sucker and the long wand one with a brush that slides the length of the wand and also a basic brush. I am looking at purchasing the car kit as I think it would be an added asset to this wonderful machine. The way it transfers from carpet to tile at a flick of a button is a breeze. It does suck up the corner of my front door mat a lot as I haven’t learnt that lesson yet!!!!!!! All in all I am super happy with my purchase and would highly recommend the Shark to everyone that would care to listen. Please feel free to ask any questions, honesty is the only way for me!

Excellent performer
I have had Dyson vacuums for the past few years and bought the Shark as I was not completely satisfied with the performance or quality of my last Dyson. The Shark is not as funkily designed as the Dyson and is rather more functional in appearance. It arrived neatly packed in the box with simple assembly instructions. It all snaps together very easily and the buttons and features are all easy to use and identify. The Shark performs very well on both carpet and hard floors and switching between the two surfaces is just a matter of sliding the on/off switch up and down. All this does is activate/decativate the sweeper roller in the head but this, combined with the suction control function makes cleaning both surfaces a doddle. The cleaning head has bright LED lights that illuminate dirt and hairs on the floor so you can see what you are doing. Cleaning performance (I have used it twice now) appears to be very good and it easily lifts pet hair from carpets. As I have cats and dogs this is important and I would give the Shark a full 5 stars on this. The liftaway function for the stairs makes cleaning them a breeze and I have to say the powered pet brush works better than the equivalent accessory on my last Dyson. Again, the Shark comes apart and goes together again very easily. The vacuum is still very new and time will tell how robust it is but my first impressions are that it is well made, well designed and very functional. Ultimately, I want a vacuum cleaner that does the job it is supposed to do well. Being a piece of funky design is very much a secondary concern. The Shark gets my approval, as a result. Good value and good performance all round. if I have any criticisms, they are only slight... The cable could do with being a couple of metres longer and the dust collection "cup" could be a bit bigger. You have to empty it after every use. But it is nice to know that this is also necessary because the thing as sucked a lot of dust and pet hair up!

Does this thing suck!
So I'm a 40 year old bloke and I don't make a habit of leaving reviews for domestic cleaning products but wow! I've had this cleaner for a good few weeks now and it far surpassed my expectations from anything that's not Dyson. Previously we had a battery powered thing from Morphy Richards which turned out to have the suction of hyperventilating gnat so we had to buy something proper and along came this Shark... My included photo is what it picked up on its first run of our living room (approx 4x3m) (I don't have any pets). Now for the past 9 months we had been using the gnat powered rubbish from Morphy but this first go at our main living area makes it look like we live in perpetual filth. We don't. Well not anymore due to the Shark! It's stylish art deco appearance looks fantastic in any man's hands and its lift away ability makes it easier to get into those harder to reach areas on your hands and knees. So the pros and cons? Please note I have yet to try this on hard flooring as we usually just sweep and mop. Pros: It feels powerful. I mean when you turn it on and the roller starts to spin the cleaner is pulled forward itself (be careful of baby's fingers on the carpet directly in front - We almost lost one!) When you pull the cleaner back the roller spin makes it feel like the carpet is being lifted. It really does get right into the depth of the carpet. Easy to detach into lift away mode and to take the handle out. Lots of satisfying release buttons. Quickly slots back together after. A breeze to empty the container although I've not had to clean the filter yet. It actually leaves those satisfying "just vacuumed" marks all over the carpet (you know like cutting your grass like a football pitch). Power lead is plenty long. It sucks up almost anything. I found a whole pencil jammed inside last week! Cons: It's a little heavy to use due to the suction so may end up being a bit of a workout. The suction can be lessened by opening the slider on the handle but why would you want it to suck less? The largest attachment (I use for the stairs) with the smaller roller inside that sounds like a jet engine when you first turn on doesn't seem to have a place holder on the cleaner so I have to keep it aside when not in use. The hose itself sometimes doesn't seem long enough when in lift away mode so need to move the rest of the cleaner around a bit more as you go. All in all I would certainly recommend, especially at £190. Best cleaner I've owned.
