Works great; bottom is convex, not flat.
I have to admit that I bought this because it was something different and because I like wood utensils. I needed a masher, but didn't really want one of the typical metal ones you see all the time. I wasn't really expecting it to be all that great or to be very efficient. But, I was wrong, it works very well.What you can't see is that the bottom of the masher is convex, not flat, and this makes it work very well. I've used it for vegetables and for dhal and it works great. Of course, the handle isn't very long so be careful when you use it with hot foods; don't want to splash hot stuff on your hands.I wash it in hot soapy water, towel dry it as best I can and then let it air dry. Maybe at some point it would be a good idea to oil the unfinished surfaces, as you would a cutting board, but I haven't done that yet.
