I have a cat with cancer and is having difficulty keeping food down with plenty of vomiting. I've had to move her from any kibble to wet food. I've been really concerned to make sure that her nutrition is complete. She won't eat wet food with "chunnks" in it as I think she really doesn't like processed and formed bits. I have purchased every pate form of food and then I saw this and thought it sounded different. She loves this. I loved the ingredients and the texture! It's not a thick, hard pate, but a smooth mousse that makes it easy to lap up. This is a premium cat food and worth it.

One of my cats needs daily medication, in the form of a capsule that's too large to just force down his throat. So I have to open the capsule and mix the powder into something that'll mask the medicinal taste and that he likes enough to ensure that he'll eat all of it. I had always used Hartz Delectables Bisque, which both of my picky-eater cats absolutely love and they devour it so fast that my one cat doesn't have the faintest clue that there's a large capsule of bitter tasting medication blended in! In the name of parity, I always split a packet between my two cats, one portion containing medication and the other a "virgin"/"Shirley Temple" version. Lol ;) So when Hartz Delectables Bisque went out of stock everywhere nationwide recently, I needed to try something similar to mix the medication in. I purchased this Tiki Cat Velvet Mousse in hopes that it would be a good substitute. It comes in packets identical in style to the Hartz Bisque, and it's easy to tear open the packet and squeeze it out into a bowl. I thought it smelled decent enough (Tuna flavor, I think), but "I'm not a cat!" (LOL) so I'm not in a position to judge its smell or flavor. It was a bit thicker in consistency than the bisque; the bisque had the consistency of applesauce or baby food, whereas the Tiki Cat Velvet Mousse was more pasty and dense, more like cake batter or frosting. I was so hopeful it would be a hit with the cats, but they both just sniffed it, tentatively took a tiny lick, and then promptly turned and walked away. I should note, I did NOT mix any medication into it because I just wanted to see if they'd eat it first. I tried it again several days later, and got the same reaction. If you're looking for a product of this nature, whether it's to blend medication into, or for older cats who have trouble chewing, or even just for an occasional treat, I wouldn't rule it out for other cats, but unfortunately my finicky boys didn't care for it.

Can kittens and cats eat the same product? There appears to be little or no difference between the specified kitten food and the regular (except the amount). Right now I am buying the same flavor in kitten and regular. Although, because of the cost I cannot feed my 15 lb Persian 5 pouches a day.
