What is the clearance between the center of the snap and the back part of the jaw, i.e., how far in from the edge of the material can you put a snap?

Dear Customer: Hello, There is about 1.7 inches of clearance between the center of the snap and the rear of the jaws. How far the snaps can be placed depends on the material: If it is a product such as hard plastic, the distance is about 1.7 inches If it is a thicker canvas, the distance is about 14 inches The specific depth depends on the environment, material and thickness. Thanks for your question.

Does this tool work for 3/8th inch snaps?

Yes this product will work just fine on 3/8 snaps I bought this tool and the 3/8” 153 piece boat canvas snaps and they worked without issue

When using snap fastener tool to install the snap, will the bottom grinding tool shake and fall?

snap tool have installed magnets on the abrasive tools, a very good design, will not fall during work, installation and replacement are very convenient.
