Philips Norelco S9000 Prestige Electric Shaver, Black Matte

The Philips Norelco Series 9000 Prestige is hands down the best electric shaver I’ve tried. It gives an incredibly close and comfortable shave—easily the closest I’ve gotten from an electric razor, and noticeably better than other models I’ve used in the past. It feels premium in the hand, runs smoothly, and handles both short stubble and longer hair effortlessly. Yes, it’s more expensive than other options, but it’s absolutely worth the extra money for the quality and performance you get. I’ve been genuinely impressed every time I use it. Highly recommend if you’re looking to upgrade your grooming routine.

Besides the cost, what's not to like? Quiet (nice for ear-fuzz). This can be used in the shower, but I usually use a 5-blade non-electric...but there's usually a few errant neck hairs missed. It's waterproof-ness is great for a fast and thorough cleaning under faucet. I use this to follow-up once I'm dry, to get errant hairs. I searched EXTENSIVELY (like stupid time-vortex!) to learn differences in electric razors. This is BEST by all knowledgeable folks for skipping a few days (i.e. longer vs. short stubble), and getting hairs that lay flat, which others miss. This top-of-line Philips / norelco is gentle on skin. Despite a goatee, this works up to the line despite the broad 5-sided contraptions designed to coax hairs to stand up. This particular deal, with the spare heads and cleaning kit is I believe the vest value of all the "S9000-Prestige" bundles (the shavers themselves are all *identical* but for color and nomenclature to appeal to differing tastes of buyers (space-rated? for blue...really?!). It holds a charge going on three-weeks (albeit I don't shave every day).

I have 3 shavers, the Braun 9 series, the Panasonic Arc 5 and the latest being the Norelco Prestige S9000. All good shavers, however, surprisingly my go to shaver, after only 12 days, is the Norelco Prestige S9000. It may not give the closest shave of the three, but I find it gives the most comfortable shave and is also the quietest of the 3. Also, in my opinion, it gives the most even shave of the lot. What I mean is that if you run your hand over your face after shaving with it all areas feel about the same level, no one area feels less or more shaved. Around the chin and mouth, it seems to get spots that the Braun and Panasonic miss. The shave is actually plenty close, just not as close as the Panasonic. That was my criteria, however with the evenness and comfort of the S9000 Prestige, I find it to be my preferred shaver. It kind of reminds me of the old Norelco Sensotouch 3d 1250x, which I liked a lot until they cheapened the replacement blades, and it was never the same. Great shaver. Highly recommended.

If used razors like this before. Some work for while, them starts ripping out your hairs. Some don't work right out the box. This one is excellent. I haven't had a single pull yet and I barely have razor burn. It has a great display, comfortable to hold, and an easy take apart for cleaning. Even better, it has the base that does a good job of cleaning and disinfecting. The charge holds up and charges quickly when you might be in a rush and forgot to plug it in. The negatives I have is the small pop-up razor. It does not cut that well. Can be used for a trimming but if you are wanting to shorten your beard hair before you go all the way down to the skin, you might want a second tool if you're in a hurry. I will say it's a little difficult as well to cut over the lip and nose area, but you probably should expect this for this shape of razor. All in all a great product and would recommend it to others. You really do get what you pay for here.

UPDATED at end. I have very tough facial hair. Getting a good shave is always difficult. Many stray hairs left behind. In general, the only way to get a smooth shave has been a razor in the shower with gel. I have Braun and several other brands that I have tried over the years, including other Norelco. This is the first one, that after 2½ days of growth, the shave (dry) gave me a smooth awesome shave. It was the first shave and so I hope this continues as my skin conditions. Cleaning is easy … and I honestly can’t wait to shave again. No pain, no going over the same area 10 times (literally). This was a joy to use. Nice job Philips Norelco. I happen to use the comfort setting on 3 (the + sign as far as it will go) and it’s awesome. 01/03/2024 Update: I have used this 3 to 6 times a week since purchasing. It works amazing as when I got it and I am still on the first charge (haven’t plugged it in). I alternating cleaning in the sing with water and the next shave in the quick clean pod. Love this shaver and it works the best out of my frustrating collection. I highly recommend.

As a 70-year fan of Norelco shavers, I can tell you that this model is the very best. It gives the closest, most comfortable shaves ever, and the self-cleaning dock is worth the price alone. No more disassembling the shaver heads for cleaning---just pop the shaver in the dock and press the on button and it does it for you. As I was skeptical of this feature, I removed the heads after several cleanings and was astonished to find no whiskers whatsoever. Kudos to Norelco!

I had a lower grade Norelco razor (2400, I think) - it was cheap, and it gave pretty jagged & irregular shaves. Based on an online review I found of all of the various Norelco electric razor products, I splurged and bought this one. It does an amazing job - very smooth shaves, very close (my beard can be heavy in the afternoon), and it's fast. Wet or dry, highly recommended. I wish I got a commission for every sale this review generates, but no such luck.

I read the various negative reviews about not being able to get hair near the nose and other things. I had an earlier model with triple heads, and used it for years successfully-even with only replacing the blades one time. this model is very effective, including removing 3+ days hair growth as advertised. it glides over my somewhat rough skin easily catching the hairs. after a couple of months, I finally plugged it into charge when it got down to 10%. this with usually brief daily shaving. The automated cleaning unit is interesting and I use it every few times whereas I do manually rinse it every time. so even though I was concerned with various reviews, I ended up having a very good unit and good ongoing usage.

I bought this to replace my Philips 9850 which I bought in 2018. Sadly, the whole head of the 9850 kept popping off when I shaved. And it would sometimes seize up too. I was quite happy with the shave on my old shaver, although it took a bit too long to get a very close shave. The new shaver shaves closer. It's not perfect, but I take less time compared to my old shaver. I still have to go over the same spot several times, but it is quicker, and closer. Just a bit disappointed that my old shaver only lasted 6 years. The battery is still good, and the shave is still good with new heads. I paid more for the Prestige shaver, because I liked the indented grip, which is similar to my old 9850. The new Series 9 bodies do not have this indented grip. Got this on a 12.12 sale, and it was a decent price, with an extra set of blades.
