Practical, light and easy to use! Solves dog, cat and young childrenโs โcontainment.โ
These gates are sturdy, but, not as super heavy duty as the bamboo ones of other brand. I have both kinds. These are perfectly adequate for my needs. I really love the dark brown color. They are very practical, relatively inexpensive, lightweight, versatile, and fairly easy to use-once you know the secret trick! To size the gates to the opening, means you have to stretch out the gate to find the correct notch so the gate will hold firmly with enough tension so the pressure keeps the gate on firmly across the doorway. Mark the correct notch with a marker, so itโs easy to know where the metal bar goes into the groove. Itโs a little tricky to adjust at first, but be patient. It will work fine! The adjustable bar will be on top of the bottom one. Youโll need to push down on the top bar until it meets the lower bar. If itโs so loose, or too tight, move one notch either way to get proper pressure. The last step-slide the black plastic clip over to the middle, so it slides over the end of the top bar. It will slip over the end, as it slips inbetween and over the end, separating the two bars slightly. It only slips over the last inch of the bar- until you see the wood of the barโs end. And, โwa-la,โ as they say in French! ๐๐ I saw that there was a high return rate with these gates. I had trouble at first, until I realized that the plastic slider has to slip over the end while also, SEPARATING the two bars! Iโve been using these gates for decades-with toddlers, young children, then grandchildren, now about a dozen cat fur-babies, a big boxer and sausage-shaped chihuahua. I use the gate to keep the dogs away from cat food & litter boxes. The cats can slide under, or jump over the gate. That dang chihuahua decided to be brave enough only to get to the catfood! She must be doing the mambo! ๐ One last point-the tall gate is wonderful for wide openings. One of our cats refuses to get along with the others. I needed a solution to keep her in her own room. I combined two small & one tall gate that keeps her in โherโ own room!

Does the job !
Easy install. Make sure u want to use this in the same spot forever before u install. Havnt tried to use it without the black reinforcers somewhere else but itโs possible I think. My son tryโs to pull it down and shakes it all the time and it hasnโt fell or moved.

Great for travel and very inexpensive
These baby gates are so inexpensive. If we need more, we just hop and amazon and order a couple. These "old school" baby gates work for us just fine. I find the newer versions of baby gates a very expensive. They are relatively easy to use once you learn how. I admit I had to have my husband show me. The are high enough that our toddler can't climb them but also low enough that people can step over them to go from room to room. The wood has never given any of us a splinter if any parents were to be concerned about that possibility! They are lightweight as well. When we travel we grab a few and put them in the trunk of our care and off we go. No hassle. The reason that I knocked off a star is because the quality is just not the best. Even though they are our "go-to" baby gate, we do sometimes have to replace them because they break. Mostly from our dog jumping over them and our toddler constantly tugging on them. If we put too much pressure on the wood while adjusting the length of the gate, sometimes the wood will start to crack. Overall, the quality is good enough and the price is right. We will continue to purchase these gates.

INSTRUCTIONS and LATCH do NOT match.
Below is my original review, which notes the instructions and the latch do not match, yet now that we have had this gate for quite a while, we hate it. It is not user friendly at all. The old Evenflo gate is still functioning perfectly. This new one is for the birds. We put it in the attic and thought in an emergency, but no, I took it out this week to use for a downstairs bedroom so the older kids could play Legos. Nada - it is so hard to set up and then does not hold tight. Hate it, came back on line mostly to look for something different. I think maybe I will screw two hooks on either side of doorway and then lock the gate to a specific width, tape it so it won't move and then hang on the hooks. We need the cat to get under it but the dog to stay out. Hate it, hate it. The price does not make the value factor no matter what. I like the gate, I use it both for little people and for our dog. A white bedspread and black lab do not mix well. We have an older Evenflo gate we absolutely love and wanted a second gate so we were not having to close bedroom doors which cuts down on air flo in the home especially in the summer months. The latch mechanism on the gate receive is NOT the latch on the videos on installation and I could not figure it out on the box either. So, I kept checking Evenflo videos on Youtube and went back to Amazon and looked at the gate ordered which did not display the latching on the gate received. However, the latch mechanism on the black/bronze colored gate matched. By using the zoom feature I figured out how the gate 'latched' snug in the doorway intended. So, it comes down to the gate is great, instructions suck. I would now purchase another and recommend with the catch phrase, call me to install the first time if you have problems.

Decent Budget Option, But Lacking in Quality
I purchased the Evenflo Position & Lock Baby Gate with hopes of finding a simple, budget-friendly solution to secure my home for a puppy. While the gate does the job, there are several drawbacks that make it far from ideal. Pros: Affordable: This is one of the most budget-friendly gates available, which might appeal to those looking for a temporary solution. Aesthetic Design: The farmhouse-style finish adds a touch of charm and blends well with rustic or neutral home decor. Pressure-Mounted: Itโs easy to install without the need for tools or drilling into walls. Cons: Flimsy Build: The materials feel cheap, and the gate doesnโt provide the robust security I was expecting. It feels like it could be easily dislodged with minimal pressure. Lacks Durability: After a few uses, the locking mechanism seems to loosen, making me question its long-term reliability. Not Ideal for Active Kids or Pets: If you have a determined toddler or an energetic pet, this gate might not hold up. While this gate might work for light-duty use or as a temporary solution, itโs not a product I would recommend for households needing reliable, heavy-duty protection. If safety and durability are top priorities, I would suggest investing in a more solidly built option.

Great Gate for my 3 dogs! โค๏ธ
Love this gate. The right size & length to keep my 2 labs & I German Shepherd in a room for a little quiet time for me. This is my 2nd gate, I have purchase from same manufacturer. I couldnโt ask for better!

Attractive
I purchased these to keep my dogs out of certain areas of the house. They are attractive and easy to use. They rely on pressure to keep them in place and can definitely dent and the door frame.

Can't get the stickers off. UGLY.
It is almost identical to one I bought 25 years ago (a good thing) EXCEPT: 1. There are paper stickers glued to it. It requires a razor blade to remove the stickers, them, you get scratches. So have a can of wood stain handy. They could have used glue that isceasily removed, but NOOOOO. 2. The older one had an easy to use metal clip to hold the adjustment bar in place. This one has a movable sleeve. More difficult to use. This is what happens when you let lawyers infect the marketing department.

To Keep My Daughter From Going Outside
It's the summer in Canada and it gets really hot. We open the doors and windows to get some breeze, but my daughter keep pushing through the mesh. So we decided to buy this and my husband installed it. It works fine and does the job. This is the front door looking out towards the street. So you understand why I have to keep her safe. Great product. It arrived on time and well-packaged. Thanks.

Elegant and useful
This gate might not hold against a focused assault, but it is plenty strong to support a baby trying to stand up. It looks very nice and is easy to set up and take down with one hand. It comes with pads to glue on the wall โ these are actually very handy when you need to set up the gate at an angle to the wall. This was a must for us.
