If you run a search for "best hiking pants" on legitimate gear review sites you will most definitely see the OR Ferrosi. For a reason. If you've never worn the Ferrosi fabric (I have the pants, jacket and shorts), and you spend real time in the wilderness, I'd say you've been missing out. It's like good merino. Sort of a magic fabric. The pants are light, very breathable but still offer the right amount of protection. And they are CRAZY durable and abrasion resistant. You can roll around on granite all day and never worry about a rip. So thin and light doesn't mean fragile. All the right features including an ankle cinch, two rear pockets with one zippered, a relatively shallow but still functional thigh pocket, two deep hand pockets and a drawstring waist to lock in the fit. And the fit is a little different. More flowing than tight. So if you have a hiker butt or bigger legs these are right on the money. They also have a wide belt loop, that I've never used, but it's good that the option is there. They have four-way stretch so there's zero hindrance of movement so these deliver whether you're hiking, scrambling or climbing. They also pack very small which is a plus. I live in the mountains so my clothes are trail to town. These are a little different. Trail only. I don't think they cross over as well but some might. They're not super techy looking but the fit is more about function than style. I'm a bit of an OR fan boy, because their stuff delivers, but these really are, IMO, the perfect hiking pant. They're not inexpensive, and could be overkill if you don't get out at lot, but I see them as a great example of "Buy once- Cry once." Because you WILL get your money's worth.

I have hiked hundreds of miles in my old Ferrosi pants (3 pairs). Very comfortable and light. Very easy to pack when backpacking. Two things I didn’t like about the old style was that the back pocket didn’t zip and the pantleg drawstrings didn’t work for me. The new version fixed these issues — there is a rear zip pocket and the pantleg drawstrings work for me. I ordered the new version in the same size and I couldn’t even get close to buttoning the waist. Returned and ordered a size up (34 to 36), and that fits the same as my older Ferrosi pants. I ordered a dark blue pair and they will also make a nice lightweight travel pant (they don’t look like a dedicated hiking pant in the dark blue).

I was not crazy about the fabric. They are a bit stretchy and not is durable feeling as other brands. They fit a little looser than I like but they did seem to be a water resistant fabric.

Wore these hiking for 3 days straight. They are not baggy but fit snug and are extremely comfortable. I liked them so much I got 2 more in a different color. They also breath very well and keep cold air out even though they are thin.

The Ferrosi fabric of these pants is amazing. The breathability (living in Florida, this is really important) and stretchiness make them the most comfortable pants I own. I have them in black and khaki. They have replaced my traditional pants for casual wear at the office. I absolutely love these pants.

Pants fit nice, BUT….the ad is very misleading. These pants DO NOT convert to shorts.

Very comfortable and lightweight pants. Breathable and stretchy. Great pants for summer tracking and hiking. Water repellent and durable. Very durable material. Side pockets prevent the cellphone and wallet from falling out. True to size
