Good quality food for my 14 year old Labrador

Appreciate that this dog food is high quality and a good value for the money. It aids in maintaining a healthy weight and is especially advantageous for our older dogs. The grain-free formula avoids cheap fillers, its reduced in fat content, and its effective in promoting healthy skin and coat on our fur babies. It's been a positive impact on our dogs digestive health, and reduced their allergy symptoms significantly.

My 7 year old Golden Retriever needed to drop some weight and keep it down. She is NOT a high energy gal and loves begging for treats. I cut the treats way down in size. Phase two, diet food. She had already dropped from 90 to 80 lbs on several diets but I needed a regular food for the long term. After some research I thought I would give this food a go. While she had stabilized at 80 lbs, after changing to this food she dropped another 3 lbs to 77. I was very pleased with that. She likes the food. I occasionally add cooked chicken, broccoli, quinoa, to add diet variety. So far she seems happy and healthy and I am ordering another bag. Follow up... My Luna is maintaining her weight at 78 lbs. I continue to add somethings like pumpkin, broccoli, tuna, chicken hearts, etc. I think this is a good idea with any dry kibble, not specific to this brand or mix. Fresh food has good micro minerals, adds diet diversity, good practice.

This is a great quality dog food, and my dog loves it. He has a very slow metabolism and is lazy and stubborn, so I have had some trouble keeping his weight down. He is very reluctant to walk very far, so his vet recommended controlling his weight mainly with diet. Since he has a grain allergy, this was one of few options available. He had no gastrointestinal side effects while transitioning, although I did stretch it for two weeks and we give him Wholistic Digest All Plus (probiotics and enzymes) with every meal. The bag has feeding guidelines for both weight management and weight loss. My dog didn't lose any weight for the first 4 weeks, so after consulting with the vet, I reduced his food below what is recommended with the guidelines, and he has begun to slowly lose weight. I would recommend this because it is high quality, grain free, vet recommended, and my dog's sensitive stomach has done very well. However, I will say that you should talk to your vet about this. Many dogs have hypoglycemia which can cause obesity, and diet just won't help with that. Also, the feeding guidelines are just guidelines, and we feed less than what the directions suggest, but only after speaking with the vet. Feeding too little to lose weight quickly can also cause health issues for your pup. Anyway, I do recommend and will continue to feed this to my dog after he has reached his goal weight, readjusting the amount for weight management rather than weight loss.
