Billy Elliot [The Original Cast Recording]

My daughter went to see the stage show with her school earlier this year, when I picked her up all she wanted to do was go back and see it again. Not being sure what to expect I booked tickets for the family and we all went to see it, I was not disappointed.So I bought the DVD of the show that was broadcast live to cinemas, the DVD has almost been worn out by my daughter.Now I have added the CD to our music collection. If I had written this review after listening to the CD for the first time I would probably have dropped a star as after hearing the musical so often on the DVD there are a few minor differences on the CD and initially that grated but this music is so powerful and emotional that I soon ignored that. To my mind the best tracks are:-The Stars Look DownSolidarityAngry DanceElectricityOnce We Were KingsThe music and lyrics really pull at the heart strings.As a parent the Billy Elliot story is a reminder that we shouldn't impose our own ideas of what our kids should be doing based on what we regard as "normal" but we should encourage them to follow their dreams.There is a fair bit of swearing which may offend some, but in reality you couldn't write this story based in Durham during the year long miners strike using the "Queen's English"My advice, buy the CD, put it in the car, crank up the volume and go for a drive on your own

Billy Elliott.We had been to see the Musical a month ago in London and were blown away with how great it really was.I purchased the CD after reading the reviews.It arrived before due date.I have it in the car and play it over and over and can't say I am bored of it. It just gets better and better with each play.A couple of the songs have the odd swear words but it is fully in keeping with the subject matter. The only reason that I can think of that it not being played more on the radio etc are that there are Political stances which may not be to everyone's liking. Anyone who has seen the film will know what I mean.My advice is don't wait, buy it today, you won't be disappointed.

The film was great.. but this recorded version of the stage play is better.. a really powerful cast

What can I say a wonderful recording of a wonderful show, my wife and daughter have seen this three times live and cannot fault it in any way.Electricity has to be one of my favourites but I enjoy the whole album.

Saw the musical in Madrid, absolutely amazing. great soundtrack. I never though this movie could be turn into a musical, bit is awesome.

I have seen with 5 times and now I like theC.D.

Love this musical and the disk has a good version of what I know. There is a parent advisory on the disk and this is needed if you have any concerns about hearing strong language. I am sure the language does reflect the reality of the community it is meant to represent.

The more I listen to Billy Elliot the more I love it. It has really grown on me in such a big way. I have seen the show in London twice and I want to see it for a third time or more. The music has me feeling so good as this is a lovely story and the musical is popular on both sides of the Atlantic. I have it on my ipod and listen to it almost every day. I greatly recommend you buying the download as it is well worth the pleasure it gives you. Cheers and enjoy... like me.
