I might have started slow with this story, not because it was boring—far from it, but because I got too excited to read God of Fury (the next book after this) that I got tempted multiple times to skip this book so I can read about Brandon and Nikolai next (Don’t come for me 🫣). I thankfully didn’t succumb to temptation cause then I would have missed out big time on this wonderful story between our antagonistic-anarchy-loving Landon and strong-headed-knows-her-worth-is-a-queen Mia 😆♥️ Amazing plot line. Rina did great with writing this story and bringing the characters to life. The plot twist near the end was not what I was expecting, but maybe that’s just cause I can be pretty slow with grasping hints shown in the story 😆 It was still good though 👀 I can’t believe I’m saying this but Landon was a very hilarious and refreshing character. I found myself bursting into laughter at his inner monologue as well as his comments about everything. He’s so arrogant and blunt to the point that it was funny. He wasn’t arrogant in an irritating way. He was arrogant in very likeable way where you just find yourself grinning or laughing whenever he talks. His penchant for anarchy and chaos aside, he was very likeable character—one in which I found myself rooting for. The man was genuinely curious about things regarding emotions to make Mia happy (since he really can’t feel them) it was downright adorable. Mia is a spitfire of a woman who I am now proclaiming as queen. The woman had more guts than a lot of men combined. Absolutely fell in love with her. Love her strong personality. She knew her worth and fight for herself if need be. I absolutely love the fact that she’s the only one who can shoot Landon down, cause if anyone needs a little humbling, it’s Landon. And this story was just as sexy and hilarious and crazy as the previous books that we have seen within the series so far. And I have to say that I went into this one pretty blind. I just knew that it was pretty well loved for Rina Kent readers, so I was really hoping that this one worked for me. The pacing was a bit off at times and I had some issues with the plot as a while, but it was still a solid read that kept me entertained. First Line Tonight, a certain eyesore presence will get a taste of his own medicine. Summary Mia and Landon are on opposites of a rivalry and Mia is out to get justice for the harm done to her brother by Landon King. She wants to give him a taste of his justice and when she goes undercover and has an entanglement with him and comes out on top, he knows it was her and he will be coming for her. Mia also suffers from a disability as she was kidnapped as a child and ever since hasn't spoken a word. But Mia is strong willed and loves her family with a passion. When Landon discovers who she is, he plans on hunting her down and bringing her to her knees, but it doesn't go quite as planned when he falls hard for Mia and he will have to work hard to bring a truce between their families and prove himself to her... What I Loved There are many elements to this book that I truly enjoyed. First off, no one writes the crazy playboys like Rina Kent. There is something about how she writes a anti hero that immediately pulls you into the story. And if you want to try out this author and enjoy a good dark romance, this series is the best to start with. It is connected to other series but I highly recommend this series as I think its some of her best writing that she has ever done. From the beginning you are swept up into the story, the first couple of chapters are very compelling and you will hard put being able to place this book down at first. There is some fantastic chemistry that sets the tone of the story from the beginning. We also see how these two play with each other and get off on their games. Landon and Mia make such a fabulous couple and when they work out all the kinks in their relationship---its *chefs kiss* good. I absolutely was entertained with their romance. It gets a bit crazy at times because Landon is not normal lol But Rina Kent really writes Landon in such a way that you are intrigued even if you are disturbed by some of the actions that he takes. There is also a mix of angst in the story. The first aspect is in the relationship itself. But then its also the forbidden aspects to the story. We see how Landon and Mia also have to work with the conflicts of her family. And it gets pretty intense at times. There are also surprises we get in the end involving Mia's past kidnapping and the reveals at the end here----I DID NOT see coming. Rina Kent really knows how to shock her audience and deliver a solid read to get behind on. What I Struggled With The pacing was really off in this book. At times I was super engaged, and at other times I just wanted to skim through parts haha It just felt so off at times and the flow could have been written more smoothly.
