Great tool for when you want to go away for a night or two
I am currently fostering a cat, and I wanted to go away for the weekend. I am a cat person, and I've had cats before, and I know they can be left a few days by themselves with dry food - however, this cat is on medication that needs to be mixed into wet food, so I knew I needed to come up with a solution. I had heard of automatic feeders with ice packs before, and this one seemed to fit the bill quite nicely. First, I want to say this - when using this device, use common sense. You can't leave wet food in this thing for a week. Obviously it will not keep even with the ice packs, and there is even a warning in the instructions telling you not to do so. However, you can use this to portion out wet food for two-ish days, or dry food every day. Someone suggested freezing food into pucks to help the food last longer, and I do feel that helps a lot. I also purchased a separate set of ice packs so I can freeze one set while the other is being used. Still, I only portion out wet food for MAYBE 18 - 24 hours - I don't trust the food to be well enough to eat past that time. So again, use common sense. The next thing is the instructions do not use the best grammar, and so it makes it a bit confusing, specifically how to set up a feeder schedule for more that a day. Here is what I have learned - if you want the cycle to feed your pet TWICE A DAY (once at 9am and once at 9pm, for example), set the feeding times for two meal periods - one to 9am and 9pm - then don't set any more meal times, aka, leave the other four remaining times empty! (which, by the way, happens when you set those times to 12am) Then feeder will continually rotate at those two specific times - 9am and 9pm, or whatever two times you have set. The 6 meal times are for 6 specific meals out of a 24 hour period (such as if you want to feed your pet at 4am, 8am, 12pm, 4pm, 8pm, and 12am again). If you just need TWO meal periods (or three, ect), then just set two times and leave the other 4 blank. It took me a while to figure that out because the directions kinda/sorta say that, but again, the English isn't the best so actually using the machine is what helped me figure it out. I found that when setting Meal 1 to 9:30am, Meal 2 to 9:30pm, and Meal 3 to 10AM, and meal 4 to 10PM, the machine would override the separate meal periods at rotate at 9:30am and 10am on the same day. I hope this makes sense! This was the biggest stumbling block when getting this machine, but again, playing around with it helped me figure out the correct way to use it. As for the physical set up - I am not sure how people can't get this thing aligned, it's really rather straightforward, but perhaps I am missing something. I have taken it apart to clean it and put it back together a few times at this point and have had no issues with realigning it. Another tip - every time you turn on the machine, you have to reset the current time, but your meal periods will be saved. This may be annoying to some but I don't mind having to set the current time every time, it's very easy to do so. And the battery life is great, too! This thing has come on handy many times since I purchased it. If I want to go out for a late night and want to ensure the cat is eating at her specific time, I can turn it on and put the food in one slot, and just use it for one night. It gives me peace of mind knowing she is getting fed! And for those complaining about 'whisker fatigue...' If you are using this for one to two nights, your cat will be fine, I promise. My foster cat has eaten meals out of this thing with no problem. If you were using this around the clock, I can understand why the cat would get whisker fatigue - but again, every cat is different. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase!

Good Option!
Works well. The interface is easy to use/setup as long as you understand it requires 2.4 Ghz Wi-Fi. The GUI is simple and there is lots of potential to add more programing features in the future. I do not see any reason to get the metal bowl. The plastic bowl is very durable and cleans easily. So far, my cat has not been able to open the cover as he did on my last feeder. The ice packs last about 10 hours when in a 70-degree room. Because I was concerned how the cat would react, I paired it with a ring camera. Playing back the videos I found after a few days my cat learned the chime the bowl makes when it rotates, means food. It runs on a USB 2 cable with an included power brick but has a rechargeable backup battery. You should plan to place it near an outlet. The power cord is about 3 ft long. If you lose power the Wi-Fi will shut off to conserve battery and the unit will do whatever it was last programed to do. Without power, the unit will not receive instructions even if your house Wi-Fi is still working.

Functional
Good, functional feeder. I use it for my dog to give him medicine throughout the day when I’m at work and it works well. He doesn’t love the beeps but that’s totally a him thing. I do wish it would tell me if he has eaten them or not though. I really like how easy it is to open and clean. The latch on the back makes it really easy. The app connects well but sometimes has issues with telling me that it has been done, even when it has.

DO NOT BUY
DO NOT BUY THIS. I had went out of town for a weekend get away and on my first day of vacation the device unconnected for no reason. I was unable to reconnect the device being state away and my cats were the ones who suffered from this terrible product and didn’t get their wet food for an entire weekend, only dry food. I even was worried about this and didn’t a trial run days leading up to my trip and had no problems so idiotically I trusted this product when I shouldn’t have. Do not I repeat do not ever buy this product, your animals will suffer.

Great feeder & Great customer service too! See vid for how to set it up!
UPDATE NOV 2025: So, I figured I would give an update on this feeder after having for just over a year. I still really love having it. When I first got my cat, she had just had kittens a few months prior, she'd also been pregnant prior to that (so twice before she hit what we believe is her 1st birthday!). So, she was ravenous from having been pregnant, and once that passed... She was ravenous because she experienced a giant growth spurt! So if you see my original video, that's why her feeding chart was so crazy - cuz she was eating constantly and I was working to wean her down so that she wouldn't get super overweight, but that she wasn't also super hungry. So the feeder was extremely helpful during that time, when I was having to feed her very often so that I could limit the amount of food she was getting. We still use this feeder, although it's just twice a day now - she gets one feed overnight and then one feed late morning it. It's still working quite well, nothing is broken on it (I know I've seen some people on here complaining about it breaking, we've not had that problem at all, it's been extremely durable.) It's very easy to clean, which is a huge relief - I'm not having to scrub all the wet food out of the tray, it's really easy to get that cleaned (totally smooth and no corners). My cat was very quick to pick up on the tone that it makes once the food is in place. I was concerned it would wake me up, as I have essentially a studio type setup so feeder is near where I sleep, but it is not woken me up once. The one complaint I have is related to the charging. It doesn't have batteries, you have to just charge it up. My first issue was for some reason for me it doesn't matter when I charged it last, it always seemed to suddenly start flashing red on me in like early to late evening, which meant by the time we hit midnight it would be not working. So, then I'd have to plug it in somewhere where she could still access it, so that it could charge but she could also still eat overnight. Luckily I was able to figure out a spot for that, it's not the easiest location for her, but it works well enough. So that's the sort of a minor complaint and a weird thing that no matter what, it always seems to die out at that time of day. The big complaint I have is that it used to last 30 days on one charge. And I know because I'm OCD and I would put it in my calendar when I charged it so that I could keep track of when I would be getting close to it needing a charge so I could watch for the red light and I could get it started right away. Unfortunately after about 4-5 months it dropped down to 3 weeks on one charge. About 2 months after that it dropped down to where we are still today, which is anywhere from 14 to 17 days. And just to clarify... I hadn't been charging it until I would get the red notification on the feeder. I also check in on it often when it is going through the charging process so that I can unplug it as soon as it's done so that I'm not overcharging in that way either. (Now, that might not matter because I think you can just leave it plugged in all the time if you prefer... but I'm not 100% sure on that, I'd have to pull out the manual again.) At this point, I just have a reminder on my calendar to charge it every 16 to 17 days. But at least if I do it on my own terms, then I can get it plugged in in early afternoon, so that way, by the time we're going to bed, it's all charged up. So, that's my one big complaint about it. I'm not sure what happened and why the charge suddenly doesn't last as long (literally only lasting half as long). But that's the ONLY issue I have with it. It works like it's supposed to in all other ways. It does a great job at keeping my cats food cold. I do add an extra step of freezing the food since I tend to set up her feeder anywhere between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. and her first feed time is 3:30 a.m. and then the second one is 11:40 a.m.. Now, if forget to freeze it or I'm not able to freeze her food one day , and I have to just put her wet food in from the can, it's still completely fine. I just freeze it because I think my cat honestly prefers that, I think she likes it a little bit cold. BUT, again, the ice packs are completely good at keeping the food truly cold for I would say 8-12 hours (part of that depends on the temperature of the room where you have the feeder - for example if it's really hot in the summer, the ice pack clearly is going to heat up faster, versus if you're room is an average temperature, like 68° F for example, then your ice pack is going to stay cooler for longer... Obviously, lol) One of the other nice things that because of the design, the food in each tray is pretty well covered, so it's not being exposed to a lot of air. I'm sure that most people here who have put down wet food for their cat or dog only for their pet to not eat it, knows that when wet food has been sitting out for a while, that starts to get dried up and really icky , like a dried coating over the top of it. Well , you do not have that problem with this feeder. I honestly was concerned about having the food open and out for such a long periods of time, I knew the cold would help keep it fresh, but I was concerned about it getting that coating...It does not get it. So, that's really nice, i really like that and so does my cat. I would still recommend this feeder to anyone who needs a feeder for wet or dry food, you can just use this for dry food and just don't put the ice packs in. But it is really very good for wet food, especially if you need it for long hours. And again my only complaint after a year is that the charge isn't lasting as long. But having to charge it every 2 weeks isn't the end of the world. ORIGINAL REVIEW, AUGUST 2024: I was searching for a feeder that could handle wet & dry food for overnight feeds. I adopted my kitty a couple months ago and we're still trying to figure out a schedule that works for both of us, especially overnight! I went with this feeder bc I liked that it had 5 scheduled feed times (6 tray spots, one is for immediate feed), has ice packs, and had safety feature to stop the tray from turning if the pet gets in the way! I has some concerns so I reached out to customer service before I ordered it and they were awesome - replied quickly, followed up to make sure they'd answered everything. Just great! So, I decided to go for it. And I'm thrilled I did. The feeder is very quiet when tray rotates, I don't even hear it if my fan is on. It beeps when ready for pet to go eat, but very light, so it's not waking me up, but still alerts my kitty! Day one I put some treats and kibble in it and just set the times to go every 10-20mins so she'd learn "beep = food", she caught on fast. Setting up the schedule is super easy. The trick is to remember, it's not a day by day schedule, so your not setting times for mon/tues/wed, etc... Your setting times for it to go off in a 24hr period. So, if feed pet 2x a day, you only set 2 times. For me, I just enter then chronologically so I don't forget one... So I put her trays together at 730pm most nights. I'll set 1) 12:30am 2) 4:30 3)6:30am 4) 8:30pm. So, even though I put 12:30am in first, it doesn't mean it'll wait til next time it hits 12:30am... No, it goes by the time in the feeder... So when it hits 8:30pm, it'll feed her at 830pm, bc that's a set feed time. Then, the next feed time it'll do is 12:30am, and so on... Make sense? Does to me lol. If you do different foods at different feed times, then you need to keep that in mind. If you don't need all 5time slots, then you just put 12:00am in the slots you don't need. So, again, for me I just do it as 12:30am, 4:30am, 6:30am, 830pm, 12:00am. I'm trying to attach 2 vids to this review, unfortunately only part 1 can load darn! So I'll just explain... When tray is in place, think of it like a clock... The 6pm position is immediately feed. The tray rotates clockwise, so, whatever you want your pet to get fed next, need to go to the right of that immediate feed. And the keep placing it around like that. But again, I think this feeder is great. Also, it's extremely easy to clean the tray out! Added perk! It's a rechargeable battery, so can charge and out anywhere, but you can also just leave it plugged in. Nice options! I definitely recommend this machine!! So glad I got it!

Nice product but...
Works as stated just wish there was a lid on the open hole to be able to shut when they are done feeding and that the bowls were bigger. Have not had issues as of yet with the disconnection from the internet.

Behold, The Glorious FoodShrine
... At least, that's what my cat seems to think! When it's nearly time for the next bowl, he lies there staring at his Donut Frost with the glittering eyes of absolute faith (even though he's mostly blind). Personally, I think it looks like a cute little Roomba that serves catfood. Either way, it's a lifesaver. Easy to set up, program, and disassemble for cleaning. If your pets like food as much as Merkah (my 15yo orangeboi) does, they'll figure it out pronto. The latch in the back is simple but secure, and the control unit has a lock feature that pets are unlikely to defeat. Larger dogs might be able to bash their way through the upper shell, so if you've got larger dogs around, you'll probably want to set this feeder up where they can't reach it. The whole thing charges via USB-C cable. One with a 90-degree connector is included (though you could use a regular one in a pinch, just maybe not with food in the tray). The package does not include a "wall wart," but most of us have about a million of those lying around anyway. Update: the battery in this thing is HUGE, and I have yet to see it run out. The longest I've let it run without charging is 7 days, but that's a really long time anyway. When the feeding cycle begins, the feeder emits a little beep. I'm not sure how, but Merkah knew without prior instruction that the beep meant FOOD (maybe he learned it from the microwave??? 🤔). A few days in, he practically tapdances for joy when he hears it. On a more sober note: Merkah has developed a serious illness that causes insulin overproduction (which, in turn, can lead to severe hypoglycemia, as we discovered the scary way). This means he needs to be fed every 3 hours around the clock to keep his blood sugar relatively steady. I would go on getting up every 3 hours all night if I had to in order to keep him safe, but not having to is really helpful. Knowing that FoodBot (as we've taken to calling it) is on the job lets me sleep easier (read: lets me sleep, period, bc I find it directly to fall asleep again once I wake up) and it keeps potentially life-threatening medical emergencies at bay. I was worried that the openings might be sized in a way that leads to whisker fatigue, but so far they seem to be fine. Because I'm feeding wet food, I take the tray out every day and wash it, so I'm not terribly concerned about the potential for feline acne related to plastic bowls. Being mostly blind also doesn't appear to make it harder for Merkah to use this feeder (if anything, it's easier, because it's big and hard to miss). The smoothly-curved sides also help Merkah lap up every molecule of his precious wet food, which I'm sure he appreciates, and limits spills (Merkah is a sloppy eater), which I definitely appreciate. The included ice packs keep wet food chilled overnight — by morning they're mostly thawed, but still fairly cold (I do have AC in the bedroom where the feeder is stationed overnight). I help them out by freezing pre-measured "pucks" of wet food for the last 3 servings in the cycle. (Merkah is also apparently happy to eat the still-frozen pucks, as I discovered when I loaded the tray backwards). Whether you have a pet with medical issues that require frequent small feedings, one that pesters you for food all the time, or one that could use some help with portion control, the Donut Frost is a solid choice. There are cheaper feeders on the market, but the balance of features (especially the ice packs and USB recharge) makes this one a winner if you can afford it. TL;DR: a really good multi-serving feeder with custom-fit ice packs. Battery lasts a long time between charges. Catto approved; highly recommended.

THE BEST AUTOMATIC FEEDER!
We love this automatic feeder!! The assembly and connecting it to wifi/app was SO easy- I hardly needed the manual to do so. It’s so convenient to have, especially if you feed your cat wet/raw food. The bowls are big enough for a decent sized meal & they’re shallow enough to not have to worry about your cat getting whisker fatigue or cat acne! The ice packs keep the food at a perfect temperature, not too cold but chilly enough that the food won’t go bad. I don’t have to worry about making sure I’m home to feed my cat if I’m out or at work- it’s also a huge time saver that I can prep his food once a day and it’s good to go. I 100% recommend purchasing a second set of the ice packs if you plan to use the feeder everyday- it’s just more convenient that way. My cat warmed up to the feeder quickly and now he runs to go eat when he hears it dispensing. We love that there’s an app control as well, I can see from my phone that the feeder successfully dispensed and can set/alter the times whenever! We haven’t had a single instance in the weeks we’ve been using where it didn’t dispense or food went bad, therefore it’s a 10/10 for us. It’s also not loud at all when dispensing like some other feeders are, but just loud enough for the kitty to hear it! Most times I don’t even hear it even when in the next room over. This one particularly needs to be plugged in all the time for the app to work (which I don’t mind, but I suppose it’s important to note). The only “downside” I would say is that the bowls are plastic vs stainless steel, but if you properly clean the bowls after each feeding there shouldn’t be any concern for bacteria anyway!! It’s very easy to clean as well- by hand or in the dishwasher! My cat also no longer wakes me up at 5am for food!! That’s one of my favorite things about it. He can get 6 small meals a day that way he never wakes us up or bugs us for food! He loves it and we love it! A lot of cats do better with frequent small meals versus a few big meals, and I’ve noticed a very positive change in his energy, behavior, and appetite since using this feeder to give him those small meals every few hours! 🥰
